RTI Releases RK2 In-Wall System Controller

Highly Cost-Effective Touchpanel Provides Complete, Customized Electronic Home Systems Control for Wall-Mounted Applications

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN — September 3, 2007 — Custom installers looking for a cost-effective touchpanel solution for controlling audio/video components, lights, or other electronic systems in the home, need to look no further than RTI’s new RK2. The RK2, which mounts flush in a wall, features a 2.4″ high-contrasts LCD touchpanel that is small enough to unobtrusively integrate with any room’s decor, yet is detailed enough to display custom text, graphics, and animations with crisp clarity. It is completely customizable, programmable and upgradeable.

“The RK2 provides a high-value option for homeowners who want a simple and stylish way to control their home’s electronic systems,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “The RK2 balances form and function perfectly, since it is powerful enough to manage any size system while discreetly blending with a home’s interior. And because the user interface is so intuitive, it is easy for anyone to enjoy precise control over their entire home systems, even if they’ve never used an in-wall touchpanel before.”

The RK2 was developed to provide a flexible interface that can control entertainment systems such as distributed music systems as well as environmental/lifestyle functions such as lighting, HVAC, motorized window curtains, pools and fountains.

When used with available RTI accessory devices, the RK2 is capable of infrared routing, relay control, power-sensing, and RS-232 communications for advanced control.

In addition to its bright, high-contrast monochrome touchscreen, the RK2 features seven hard buttons, which can be programmed for any command, or assigned unlimited step macro command strings for exceptionally precise and automated control over any component or system. Non-volatile flash memory keeps all settings intact even when power is lost.

RTI engineers designed the RK2 not only to satisfy its end users, but to be a smart solution for installers, who are required to seamlessly integrate control products with the rest of their systems. The RK2 has two built-in power-sense inputs, which allow the controller to monitor the power status of linked components and implement intelligent energy management plans. The controller’s front panel features an IR receiver to provide IR pass-through control over connected equipment via remote control.

Programming is easy, fast and convenient thanks to RTI’s award-winning, Windows based TheaterTouch Designer software. The industry’s benchmark solution, TheaterTouch brings drag-and-drop simplicity to the programming process.

Of significant benefit to both users and installers, is a wide array of additional of well-thought-out features including a stylish low-profile faceplate with snap-on attachment, integrated mounting wings for easy installation, choice of gray or black front plate and buttons, a plasma-friendly infrared receiver for command pass-through, the capacity to drive wire runs up to 1,000 feet, and USB programming.

The RK2 In-Wall System Controller is available now at an MSRP of $449.
