Roth AV announced its 2nd generation OLi series, a five-model line-up of speakers all of which arrive with great sound and sensible price-tags

The latest generation of Roth OLi speakers picks-up where the debut series left-off — delivering high-end looks, audiophile performances, and truly affordable prices. Indeed, on the subject of costs, while the Roth design team has further upped audio performance, prices throughout the new line remain firmly anchored to the original 2009 levels.

The baby of the new bunch is the little OLi 10. Replacing the five star-rated OLi 1, the 10 is another no compromise bookshelf speaker. A two-way design the little OLi measures just 21cm tall yet punches out a big sound, handling up to 100 watts of power. The ideal addition to any entry-level hi-fi separates system, the OLi 10 is also the perfect way to release your micro system's full sonic potential. And thanks to the fact it's sonically happy when placed close to a rear wall, the OLi 10 is spot-on for those listening in smaller spaces.

Next up is the OLi 20. This model takes the OLi 10 design and increases the cabinet size volume and adds a larger-size mid-bass driver. The result is a punchy monitor also ideally suited to smaller spaces, but with a slightly broader sonic range than its little brother.

A trio of towers completes the five-strong OLi range. All the new floorstanders improve on the original line, and all three further enhance the use of DALtech damping technology — standing for “Dead as Lead Technology,” DALtech aims to eliminate distortion caused by the speaker's own energy with the strategic placement of acoustic damping within the speaker cabinet. The OLi 30 is a sleek looking 87.5cm tall, 2-way design incorporating a dual 13cm driver together with its 25mm black diamond silk dome tweeter. Move up to the OLi 40 and the 2-way speaker reaches up to 97cm and adds a further 50 watts capacity to the OLi 30's 150 watts max figure.

King of the new OLi range is the OLi 50. Measuring-in at an imposing 128cm, this 3-way, quad driver tower accepts up to 250 watts of audio power. A big unit, no doubt about that, the OLi 50 also counts finesse in its armoury and its room-filling bass retains punch and pace, while the 50mm ribbon tweeter helps lend a clear and smooth nature to the top end.

“Improving on the debut OLi range was a big ask, but the new line-up manages to do just that. The sonics and visuals of all five models are testament to many months of intensive research and design, and we are incredibly proud of our new speaker quintet. We like them — a lot — and we hope you do, too.”
— James Roth, Roth AV Founder
