Phase Technology Launches Solaris Outdoor Speaker Line

JACKSONVILLE, FL — March 8, 2004 — Phase Technology is introducing the latest addition to its collection of high-fidelity home entertainment speakers—-the Solaris All-Weather Speaker Line. Since life doesn’t just happen indoors, Phase Technology is taking its “speakers for your life” to the great outdoors, giving you and your guests the perfect musical backdrop for a deck-top cocktail party, poolside barbeque, or Sunday brunch. The new series’ two models, the SPF 25 and SPF 35, produce the natural, dynamic sound fans of Phase Technology expect, from sturdy designs conditioned to withstand the harshest environmental conditions. Phase Technology will ship the Solaris line in April 2004.

“Fans of great sound don’t want to be confined to one particular listening space,” said Roberta Lewis, vice president of sales & marketing for Phase Technology. “Solaris erases the boundary between indoor and outdoor speakers. It’s the perfect solution for listeners who want Phase Tech-quality sound on the back patio, around the pool, or in their home theater. Solaris brings the best out of your music and movies through rain, sleet, snow, and intense on-screen action.”

Phase Technology’s engineers accounted for user experience at every step of Solaris’ design—-from fast and easy installation to outstanding sound. Every Solaris speaker reflects in its performance the advanced engineering behind each individual component, and their integration in final design.

Starting with a composite enclosure and aluminum grilles, Solaris’ outer shell is surprisingly light, and its UV-resistant material and weatherized paint maintains vivid color through years of sun exposure. All of Solaris’ hardware is stainless steel or brass, and its binding posts are gold over brass—-matching the toughness of Solaris’ enclosure—-which outlasts rain and high humidity, extreme heat, snow and ice, and corrosive salt spray.

Solaris’ drivers are also designed to guarantee dynamic sound for years of outdoor use. The 1″ titanium dome tweeter produces a remarkably smooth and extended top end that achieves noticeably broader dispersion and minimal distortion. Solaris’ mineral-filled polypropylene woofers come in two sizes: 5.25″ (SPF 25) and 6.5″ (SPF 35). Through the worst weather, they ensure the high impact and accurate response that satisfies the most discriminating ears.

Each driver is supported by the technology that continually affirms Phase Technology as a home entertainment pioneer. The Absolute Phase Crossover is a sound imaging benchmark that gives every listener a spacious and vivid sweet spot, even when sitting far from speakers’ center. With speakers positioned on eaves or hidden in other out-of-the-way spots, this feature is vital to impressive outdoor performance. Solaris also uses Phase Tech’s signature Low Level Linearity, which guarantees balanced treble and bass even at background levels.

Using the included adjustable aluminum C-mount, the Solaris Outdoor Speaker Line offers complete installation versatility, attaching to surfaces with ordinary sheetrock or wood screws. Speakers rotate in the C-mount, which can be positions vertically and horizontally for the perfect listening configuration. Solaris speakers also come equipped with threaded inserts to fit a wide variety of standard swivel mounts. Another option is to place them without their mounts on a stand or bookshelf. And Solaris’ exteriors are paintable to match decor, or blend into brick, wood, tile, and landscaping.

Phase Technology guarantees the performance of each Solaris speaker with a 10-year warranty that reflects the extensive quality testing behind every subassembly. From driver fabrication—-including winding and baking voice coils in-house—-to integrating proprietary crossover design, the entire fabrication process is designed to ensure years of uncompromising performance.

About Phase Technology

Phase Technology Corporation (toll-free at 888-PHASE TK; website at www.phasetech.com) is one of the few fully-vertically integrated American speaker manufacturers. The company started as United Speaker Systems in 1955 as an original equipment manufacturer and still designs and produces all of its own sub-assemblies in-house. Phase Technology’s speaker lines incorporate many proprietary innovations like the soft-dome tweeter, the industry’s standard invented by Bill Hecht, founder of Phase Technology. Other patents cover the self-damping woofer voice coil, the manufacturing process for flat-piston midrange drivers and woofers, silicone-injected drivers for resonance damping, and the positive-clamping mounting system for the premier in-wall Model CI-110/II. The company also developed the Unicell Zero-Diffraction treatment that reduces acoustic reflections off cabinet and grille surfaces. Phase Technology manufactures all of its wood cabinets by hand and performs quality control tests at every step of the fabrication process. All Phase Technology digital home theater, audiophile, outdoor, in-wall/in-ceiling custom installation speakers, as well as powered and in-wall subwoofers are constructed at the company’s Jacksonville, Florida facility and are covered by a 10-year warranty. Phase Technology’s amplifiers are covered by a 3-year warranty.
