Multi-Purpose Design Delivers Customizable Performance That Speeds Design Time and Lowers System Costs
Fremont, Calif., March 21 —- PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader in digital imaging, specialty lighting and optical detection technologies, today announced the availability of the new MultiBlue CCD Camera, a multi-purpose imaging camera for a wide variety of industrial applications such as semiconductor and pharmaceutical inspection.
“PerkinElmer’s MultiBlue CCD Camera provides a cost-effective choice for OEMs looking for a single CCD camera technology to support all of their application needs,” said Norbert Burggraf, Product Leader, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics.
The MultiBlue features a customized, modular design that gives OEMs a choice of imagers that can be incorporated into the camera. By eliminating multiple camera platforms, a wide variety of imaging tasks can be completed quickly and easily, increasing lab productivity and reducing user training time and expense. Through its temperature-stabilized design, the MultiBlue eliminates the need for expensive cooling, a savings of several hundred dollars per camera.
The camera’s 12-bit output depth provides up to a 34% increase of dynamic range over the typical 8-10 bit industry standard. The camera’s USB 2.0 and an IEEE-1394b FireWire interfaces provide dual “plug and play” connectivity and eliminate the need for costly frame grabbers. The MultiBlue camera is Windows XP compatible, and includes an Eastman Kodak KAI-0340SM imager with a high-end pixel resolution of 640 x 480. Other imagers are available upon request.
The MultiBlue CCD camera is very competitively priced at under $750 in volume. Further discounts are available for board-level versions of this product.
