Panasonic Launches Strada Hard Drive Based Navigation System

Panasonic announced the availability of its first mobile navigation system for the U.S. market and launched a multi-faceted promotional campaign to bolster recognition for the newly introduced Strada product line. With its slogan Youve Arrived, Panasonic proclaims its new Strada CN-NVD905U Double-Din HDD navigation system with DVD/receiver and touch panel LCD as the smart and sophisticated way to take drivers where they need to go.

The Strada campaign coincides with this month’s product debut in retail locations across the country, said Rob Lopez, national marketing manager for Panasonic’s Mobile Electronics Division. With its incredible performance, Strada is a best-seller in Japan, and we intend to really put it on the map and establish Panasonic as a leader in the U.S. mobile navigation market.

The campaign targets business travelers, professionals and early adopters with full-page in-flight magazine ads personifying the Strada system as your concierge on the road. The ads highlight the product’s ease of use and high performance, as well as the advantages of its built-in 30 GB1 Hard Disc Drive for extra large storage capacity and a processing speed faster than that of a DVD.

To further reach business travelers during their time spent at airports, promotional signage is prominently displayed in major airports, including Newark, La Guardia, Chicago OHare, Seattle/Tacoma and Los Angeles area airports.

In addition to in-flight and trade publication advertising, Panasonic has created an on-line advertising campaign which hot links consumers searching for the latest technology to this comprehensive Strada web page: www.panasonic.com/strada

The Strada CN-NVD905U is the ultimate travel companion, providing quick and easy access to maps and 12 million searchable Points of Interest, such as gas stations, airports, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, ATMs and historic landmarks. Its integrated 7-inch (diagonal) touch panel LCD screen features an easy-to-use Graphic User Interface (GUI) and offers a customized destination menu. The pre-loaded NAVTEQ mapping software provides map data for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, plus detailed maps of 86 U.S. cities. Users can easily upgrade their software using future DVD map database updates. There’s even a voice guidance feature, which can be activated in three languages: English, Spanish and French.

Yet another benefit of this cutting edge navigation receiver is its option to display real time traffic information from Sirius* Traffic. For details, consumers may visit: www.sirius.com. Icons can automatically show traffic flow or tie-ups on the screen, allowing the driver to take an alternate route. This feature is available by connecting the Panasonic CN-NVD905U to an optional Sirius tuner and requires a Sirius antenna and subscription to Sirius Traffic.

Along with being an outstanding navigation system, the Strada CN-NVD905U is a high performance entertainment system. The system can simultaneously provide navigation and play a variety of digital media options through the car speakers, including Sirius and XM** Satellite Radio broadcasts (with purchase of optional tuner, antenna and subscription service). It even has iPod*** Video connectivity for rear seat and front passenger video entertainment. The built-in DVD slot provides playback of DVD-videos and home recorded DVD-R/RW discs as well as audio CDs in MP3 or WMA formats. Rich surround sound is provided with integrated SRS Circle Surround Automotive technology.

The Strada CN-NVD905U also offers important safety and convenience features, such as Bluetooth**** capability for hands-free cell phone conversation and the option to connect the system to Panasonic’s universal rear view camera, model CY-RC50KU. It can be set up to switch on automatically when shifting into reverse. Consumers can easily find out which Panasonic components are right for their cars by accessing the vehicle fit guide on Panasonic’s mobile audio site.

The Panasonic Strada CN-NVD905U Double-Din HDD navigation DVD receiver will be available this month with an SRP of $1799.95.
