Custom Audio Company wins four prestigious awards at CEDIA EXPO 2006

The revolutionary IntelliControl ICS
whole-house distributed audio system was responsible for three of the four awards. IntelliControl ICS accommodates all of today’s popular sources — including Sirius and XM satellite radio, HD Radio, iPod, IP-based music sources, legacy audio sources such as CD players, media servers and AM/FM radio — delivering detailed information to and from its keypads, touchscreens and wireless remote controls.
At the heart of the system is the GXR2 Modular Multizone Receiver, the first receiver to use interchangeable source card modules. IntelliControl ICS allows simultaneous listening and control of a variety of music or programs to different rooms or zones throughout the house. The receiver accommodates any combination of up to six modules, and with additional GXR2s, the system is expandable to up to 30 zones, each with fully independent choice of source and control. New to the system is a RS232G Bi-directional Gateway, which seamlessly integrates subsystems such as Lutron lighting controls and Escient and ReQuest music servers with IntelliControl ICS.
IntelliControl ICS comes with a choice of four system control devices, including a unique wireless remote control dubbed the iRemote, which supplies all of the “metadata” (song title, artist, album, etc.) to users’ fingertips, allowing them to scan, select and play content from their ICS system just as if they were standing in front of a CD rack, satellite receiver or holding an iPod in their hands.
Other ICS system controllers include a color touchscreen display and wall-mountable keypads, available with or without LCD displays. All control devices provide real-time user
feedback in the form of metadata menus for intuitive source navigation and operation. Quick and easy access to an entire library is now beautifully simple.
The PS6si is an innovative and powerful outdoor speaker that also holds live plants and flowers. The speaker cranks out serious sound thanks to a proprietary, 6.5″ dual voice coil woofer and two 1″ fluid-cooled Tetron tweeters, which are mounted at opposing angles to project a stereo soundstage of amazing depth and clarity. Designed to handle the harshest of environments, the PS6si is made of fiberglass and is protected by a UV-resistant paint. Its 10-gallon capacity and three drainage holes ensure plants will stay healthy, while screens allow for acoustic transparency and keep bugs and debris at bay.
The awards were announced at CEDIA EXPO, the industry’s premier national trade show, in Denver, Colorado. The Exc!te Awards are sponsored by Custom Retailer and recognize the most exciting products in a variety of categories. The Resi Awards are sponsored by Residential Systems and recognize excellence in concept, design and manufacturing. The Electronic House Product of the Year Awards were selected by Electronic House editors based on reviews released throughout the year, product demos, installer feedback, innovative features and overall value. IntelliControl ICS beat out literally hundreds of competing products to win each of the four coveted awards.
