Slim styling and fine quality that makes digital photography more fun everywhere you go

Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the COOLPIX S200. Packing style, advanced functions and high performance into an ultra-slim design, this new compact digital camera lets anybody enjoy the ease and quality of COOLPIX photography.

With its advanced functions wrapped comfortably into a super-thin aluminum body measuring just 18.5mm*, the COOLPIX S200 blends classic camera design with sophisticated styling. And its quality materials and construction are instantly recognizable when taken into the hand.

Combining 7.1 effective megapixels of imaging performance with a 38-114mm (35mm equivalent) 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens, the COOLPIX S200 ably captures everything from panoramic landscapes to close-up portraits with outstanding clarity and true-to-life color. Electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) compensates for camera shake to realize yet sharper results.

Anti-shake mode adds to the fun of carefree shooting without compromising image quality, automatically activating e-VR, setting the optimal ISO for steady results, and employing BSS (Best Shot Selector) to select the sharpest image from up to ten sequential shots. And High-Sensitivity mode makes the most of the cameras’ extended light sensitivity range by choosing the optimal setting up to ISO 1000, a major benefit when shooting fast-moving subjects or aiming to achieve clearer results in lower light.

The COOLPIX S200’s bright 2.5-inch LCD with anti-reflection coating is a pleasure to work with, even in bright sunlight. Its new menu interface, which cleverly employs illustrated help dialogs, makes a snap of navigating, selecting modes and all related operations, while providing easy access to advanced functions for enhancing or correcting images as desired. This includes Nikon’s triad of innovative in-camera functions for optimizing results: Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, and D-Lighting.

The COOLPIX S200 ships with a complimentary copy of Nikon’s exclusive PictureProject software. Powerful yet delightfully easy to use, PictureProject is the fun and efficient way to organize, edit and share photos with family and friends.

*Measures 18.5mm at thinnest portion of camera.

Nikon COOLPIX S200 Feature Highlights

VR image stabilization
The COOLPIX S200 features electronic Vibration Reduction (VR) capability that allows users to overcome the effects of camera shake to produce satisfyingly sharp images. Taking data from a built-in angular velocity sensor, the system applies in-camera image processing to turn blurred images into beautifully sharp results. Anti-Shake mode also employs e-VR to deliver clearer, more stable images in diverse shooting situations.

ISO 1000 capability
Light sensitivity can be manually set as high as ISO 1000. This allows the use of faster shutter speeds to avoid blurred results when shooting moving subjects or in locations with insufficient lighting. A new image-processing engine with enhanced noise reduction and an improved signal-to-noise ratio preserves high image quality and demonstrates superior light sensitivity. In High Sensitivity mode, the ISO setting is automatically adjusted from ISO 50 to as high as ISO 1000 to ensure optimal exposure and carefree shooting in lower light.

Innovative Nikon in-camera correction features
The COOLPIX S200 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera. Face-priority AF* automatically finds, then focuses on people’s faces for crisp, clear results time after time. In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically compensates to help eradicate traces of the annoying red-eye effect that can sometimes be encountered during flash photography. Completing the set is D-Lighting, which can be applied to improve underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. D-Lighting automatically creates a copy of the image with detail added where necessary, but with well-exposed areas left completely untouched.

* Face recognition capability may be limited in some shooting conditions.
