New Dell Notebooks, Desktops and Widescreen Flat-Panel Monitors

Dell updated its Inspiron™ and XPS™ product portfolios with notebooks and desktops that are designed to lead the industry in easy personalization, connectivity, entertainment, and mobility. Dell also introduced new 19- and 24-inch widescreen flat-panel displays. The company also announced Dell Online Backup, a service that provides 12 months of complimentary online storage space for every Inspiron (up to 3GB) and XPS product (up to 10GB). Inspiron notebooks
Priced from $749, the new Inspiron notebooks offer a high degree of personalization — three widescreen display choices (14, 15.4 and 17 inch), and eight distinctive colors such as Ruby Red, Midnight Blue, or Spring Green. To address the need for ever-increasing mobility and connectivity, Dell is the first to incorporate optional built-in mobile broadband(1) capability across its entire new line of consumer Inspiron notebook portfolio, with carrier choices including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless in the U.S., and Vodafone in select countries in Europe. Customers can also upgrade all systems with integrated webcams and select systems with Blu-ray Disc drives.

All Inspiron notebooks feature Dell MediaDirect™ with Instant Office, lightning fast one-button instant access utility available, enabling users to look at photos, listen to music or check their calendar in seconds. The Inspiron 1420, 1520 and 1720 notebooks feature Intel Core™ 2 Duo processors, and the Inspiron 1521 and 1721 feature AMD Turion™ 64 X2 dual core processors. Other features include:

  • Choice of colors including Jet Black matte finish, Alpine White gloss finish, Espresso Brown, Flamingo Pink, Midnight Blue, Ruby Red, Spring Green, Sunshine Yellow with soft touch finish
  • Choice of high definition displays, including screen resolution and finishes, like TrueLife™ or non-glare
  • Choice of hard drive sizes up to 250GB(2); RAID 0,1 support (Inspiron 1721 only)
  • Optional integrated mobile broadband from Sprint or Verizon Wireless (EVDO -Rev A) or AT&T (HSDPA)
  • Optional integrated 2.0 megapixel webcam with dual digital microphone and noise-cancellation earbuds
  • Optional Blu-ray Disc drive (Inspiron 1420, 1520, 1720 only)
  • Optional 9-cell lithium-ion battery
  • Dell MediaDirect and Instant Office technology for fast, one-button access to videos, music or photos, calendar and contacts

Inspiron desktops
Inspiron desktops are designed to help customers take control of their digital life, offering impressive flexibility in choice of form factors and configurations. The mini-tower supports expandability, while the slim-tower is 41 percent smaller in size, but doesn’t compromise on performance. Starting at $349, all can be configured with a wide variety of technologies, like robust graphics, widescreen displays, TV tuner cards and sound systems that can easily take on challenging digital entertainment and gaming activities.

Inspiron desktops make great media hubs, supporting up to 500GB(2) of hard drive space and can be configured with Dell DataSafe™ Backup Internal, which provides fast, easy, and automatic local backup of everything on the hard drive. The Inspiron 530 and 530s desktops feature Celeron to Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and the Inspiron 531 and 531s feature AMD Sempron to Athlon 64 X2 dual core processors. Other features include:

  • Optional internal Wi-Fi networking allows customers to place their desktop where they want instead of where the Ethernet cable is
  • Large hard drive capacity (up to 500GB(2)) to store and manage large digital media files, like photos, videos, music, etc.
  • Range of graphics solution, from integrated graphics for everyday productivity, email and web browsing to high performance discrete graphics supporting high resolution monitors and dual displays, 3-D gaming, HDTV (1080p)
  • Ports include eight or ten USB 2.0 (slim-tower/mini-tower)

The XPS M1330 – The World’s Thinnest 13-inch Notebook
With a starting weight of just under 4 pounds(10) and featuring an ultra thin 0.9-inch profile(11), the premium ultraportable XPS M1330 doesn’t minimize power or connectivity. Priced from $1,299, standard features include a high definition 13.3-inch display, slot-load optical drive, full-sized keyboard, sophisticated touch sensitive media buttons, and HDMI support. Performance enthusiasts will appreciate the optional LED backlit display, NVIDIA discrete graphics, integrated fingerprint reader and webcam and dual digital microphones. The XPS M1330 is powered by high-performance Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Additional features include:

  • Choice of colors, including Tuxedo Black, Pearl White or Crimson Red
  • 13.1-inch widescreen high definition display with TrueLife technology for crisp and vivid images (WXGA 1280×800), with optional upgrade to bright LED backlit (WLED) display (300 nits)
  • Choice of high performance NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS graphics with 128MB dedicated memory(12) or battery-saving Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 3100

Dell SE198WFP 19-Inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
The Dell SE198WFP widescreen flat panel LCD monitor’s arctic silver design and price/performance features are optimally partnered with the new Inspiron 530/531 series desktops. Students new to the widescreen display experience will enjoy the large onscreen real estate for viewing multimedia content such as DVDs and games as well as easy viewing of side-by-side screens when working with multiple desktop applications.

The SE198WFP features great connectivity and plug-and-play options to meet multimedia, productivity and gaming needs packaged in an environmentally friendly flat panel LCD design. It’s available immediately in the U.S. and starts at $189. Additional features include:

Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC 24-Inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
The new Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP-HC flat panel LCD monitor’s TrueColor technology provides 92 percent color gamut coverage of the NTSC color space to gamers, photographers and digital media “prosumers” thereby enabling highly vibrant and vivid images such as deeper reds and crisper blues. With a 6 millisecond response time, the 2407WFP-HC is ideal for the multi-tasker, high end graphic designer, content creation user, and enthusiast to extreme gamer. It will be available in the U.S. in July and starts at $679.
