Netopia Broadband Gateways Optimized for Slingbox

Slingbox and Netopia Gateways Bring Home Television Services to Multitudes of Windows-Based Internet-Connected Devices

Netopia, Inc. (OTCBB:NTPA), a market leader in broadband gateways and service-delivery software, today announced that Sling Media has tested and verified the compatibility of Netopia’s broadband gateways with its ground-breaking Slingbox™ device. Slingbox enables consumers to watch their home television anytime, anywhere, through virtually any Internet-connected device. Introduced in 2005, the Slingbox garnered numerous design and technology awards, including BusinessWeek’s 2005 Product of the Year and Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2005.

“As the edge of the broadband network penetrates further into the consumer’s home and as consumers adopt products like Slingbox, broadband network reliability becomes paramount to assure an excellent online experience for triple play solutions. Netopia’s routers are well known for ensuring broadband connectivity for the growing number of IP-dependent services and consumer electronics throughout the home,” said Ray Smets, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Netopia. “Our gateways support next-generation entertainment solutions like Slingbox, demonstrating our ability to continually enhance our offerings with cutting-edge technology solutions.”

Netopia’s gateways incorporate the company’s award-winning quality-of-service and security technologies to deliver broadband voice, video, and data over a reliable, secure connection, enabling the user to easily access advanced broadband services. Interoperability testing ensures that Netopia’s gateways provide Slingbox users with easy access to their content while ensuring the security of their connection. In addition, Netopia’s gateways eliminate the complexity of navigating through firewalls and NAT tables, which is required on some routers to properly configure the Slingbox for remote access.

“The combination of Netopia’s easy to install and configure residential gateways and Slingbox’s proprietary SlingStream™ technology gives our customers a powerful, reliable, and hassle-free solution for accessing their home TV,” said Jason Krikorian, co-founder and vice president of business development for Sling Media. “These routers will allow Slingbox users to enjoy their favorite television programming from virtually anywhere in the world without disruption.”
