NeoPhonetics Announces New Remote VoIP Network Readiness Assessment Tool

AppCritical TM RNA Offering Developed Through Partnership with Polycom

TINLEY PARK, IL — (September 17, 2007) — NeoPhonetics, a telephony provider that designs, implements and supports custom VoIP systems for enterprises, today announced the availability of a new Remote VoIP Network Readiness Assessment tool from Apparent NetworksTM — AppCritical Remote Network Assessment (RNA). Made possible through the NeoPhonetics’ partnership with Polycom Inc., AppCritical RNA is a new, custom-designed software that remotely assesses any network’s VoIP readiness in less than three hours.

To date, NeoPhonetics has used AppCritical RNA in situations such as pre-qualifying customer networks as VoIP ready; diagnosing network issues in complex integration projects; validating network design and implementation work for meeting voice transmission standards; and lead generation for large VoIP installation projects. With AppCritical RNA, NeoPhonetics quickly determines whether an enterprise customer is ready for a VoIP deployment — pinpointing the exact cause and location of issues on the network, and allowing NeoPhonetics to easily fix problems.

“Through our partnership with NeoPhonetics, businesses now have a solution to address the largest hurdle to date in implementing rapid, high-quality VoIP systems — network readiness problems,” said Charles Wiseman, Polycom director of Global Services Marketing. “We knew AppCritical would have a wide variety of applications and NeoPhonetics has proven its value in many situations.”

How AppCritical RNA Works
After a NeoPhonetics network engineer obtains answers to a few technical network configuration and Internet connection questions, AppCritical RNA actively sends test packets to any network worldwide, with which it determines network characteristics and voice quality. Based on this evaluation, AppCritical RNA delivers an easy–to-understand report on basic connectivity, latency and voice traffic issues associated with managing voice packets on a data network. Every report delivered to NeoPhonetics’ customers is custom designed by internal engineering staff to address the unique needs and issues associated with each customer’s network. The entire network assessment process takes place without sending staff to customer sites.

“The AppCritical RNA tool fits nicely into NeoPhonetics’ long-term strategy to deliver rapid, customized, high availability and easy-to-manage VoIP systems worldwide,” said Chad Agate, CEO of NeoPhonetics. “We continue to make significant strides toward our goal to deliver customized VoIP IP PBX systems worldwide within 96 hours of customer engagement. This tool is our rapid, cost-effective network qualification, diagnostic, quality control and network certification answer.”

Additional AppCritical RNA Benefits
• Automates and standardizes a 10-hour engineering service into less than a two-hour process.
• Has built-in reporting modules that enable professional customer communications.
• Assesses converged voice and data networks in an easy to use and understand manner.
• Licenses cost less and are faster than licenses previously used for network diagnostics.
• Use of a remote network diagnostic tool with built-in reporting provides NeoPhonetics with easily understood third-party validation.

NeoPhonetics’ experience with AppCritical RNA to date has led it to begin evaluation of incorporating it into the NeoPhonetics Unified Management System (NUMS), which delivers high availability Asterisk/Polycom VoIP systems to enterprises and will launch in late October.

Agate continued, “Our engineers had a healthy skepticism when they first used this tool, because they are not always able to validate the results provided by other diagnostic tools we have tried. AppCritical RNA, however, provides accurate information for our engineers to perform more advanced diagnostics on a network.”
