Monitor Audio Introduces the i-deck Personal Stereo System

PICKERING, ONT — AUGUST 12, 2005 — Premier British speaker company Monitor Audio, today introduced “true” digital sound for iPod users with its i-deck personal stereo companion. With a guarantee of crisp, clear sound that entertains listeners at up to 102dBA, the i-deck offers a revolutionary new gateway within the ever-evolving iPod culture.

i-deck utilizes the latest Digital Amplifier technology with Digital IC’s and its own audiophile-quality Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs). This process carries digital files directly to the i-deck’s volume control before converting to analog, resulting in virtually noise-free playback. The i-deck simply bypasses the iPod’s built-in DACs, and uses its own superior DACs to produce enhanced audio output. By streamlining the conversion process, the i-deck reduces noise distortion that occurs with other iPod companion players. The results are clear to hear, with easily differentiated performance levels for MP3 and AAC compression rates and with Apple lossless audio files.

“With the proliferation of so many products catering to the iPod market, we are proud to introduce a product that truly makes a difference,” said Simon Spears, vice president of operations for Monitor Audio USA. “The i-deck’s ability to perform with such distinctive audio quality makes the experience even more exhilarating.”

With a Euro-chic design that accommodates any decor, the i-deck’s separate speakers (7.5 high x 5.75 wide) produce breathtaking audio performance that belie their compact size. The i-deck’s functionality permits continuous playback when the user docks their iPod into the i-deck, so you no longer have to restart songs or playlists. Continuous Funk-tonality of mid-track playback is just one of a host of features that distinguishes the i-deck from other iPod docking stations. The i-deck sports a credit card sized RF remote that can control the i-deck from anywhere in the house and the unit also recharges iPods during playback.

A perfect match for iPod, i-deck is provided with easily interchangeable bezels, making it an equally attractive home for iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod color, iPod mini and iPod Photo. A 30 pin port allows you to synchronize operation with your PC or Mac via USB or Firewire. An additional auxiliary input allows you to hook up a wide range of other equipment sources too, including iPod Shuffle, MiniDiscs, CD players, radios and more.

Designed and manufactured by Monitor Audio, a company with a 30-year reputation in building high-end loudspeakers, the i-deck retails at a price starting at $349.
