UEI to Provide Custom Line of Controls for Mitsubishi Diamond Series Televisions

Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) (NASDAQ:UEIC) announced that Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America (MDEA) has selected UEI to supply universal remote control devices for MDEA television products. The supply relationship spans a comprehensive range of Mitsubishi remotes, including those that will be bundled with the company’s high definition Diamond Series televisions.

Mitsubishi is recognized as one of the world leaders in manufacturing premium quality high definition projection televisions and high definition Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) flat panel televisions, as well as related products for complete home theater systems. UEI will provide MDEA with a comprehensive control solution in the shape of new custom remote control designs equipped with UEI’s unique patented technologies. The Mitsubishi-branded controls will also feature UEI’s unparalleled device code database to ensure compatibility with other home entertainment devices as well as a patented backlighting feature for added convenience and power efficiency for use in Mitsubishi’s top of the line Diamond Series products.

In addition to UEI’s leadership in providing innovative control technologies, the company’s unique intellectual property portfolio, outstanding engineering, reliability in operations, overall value, and flexible design capabilities seamlessly complement the comprehensive range of innovative Mitsubishi products.

“Mitsubishi is a pioneer in the burgeoning rear projection MicroDisplay and Digital Light Processing television market,” said Paul Arling, chairman and chief executive officer for UEI. “We are proud to design and integrate our control solutions with a partner who shares in our vision for excellence in the consumer electronics industry.”

UEI remotes will be available in early summer of 2006 and are slated to ship with a comprehensive lineup of Mitsubishi high definition televisions, including the premium Diamond Series products, which provide Mitsubishi’s best picture quality to date.
