Microns Performance-Infused DDR2 Memory Qualified for Use with New AMD Phenom Quad-Core Processors

Micron’s 1-gigabit DDR2-1066 DRAM Components Deliver the Industry’s Fastest DDR2 Speed Grades; 1 & 2-Gigabyte Modules Using Micron’s DDR2-1066 Components Available Now on Crucial.com

Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU), today announced that its one gigabit (GB) double data rate DDR2 memory components are qualified for use with the Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) new AMD Phenom™ quad-core processors, targeting data-intensive, high-end computing applications. The faster speeds of Micron’s new DDR2-1066 memory technology combined with the multi-core performance of the new AMD Phenom processors can increase user productivity for today’s most demanding applications.
“Users can experience a significant increase in computing performance by combining the AMD Phenom processors with Micron’s DDR2-1066 memory technology,” said Brian Shirley, vice president of Micron’s memory group. “Micron’s DDR2-1066 components have been in production for several months now and we are pleased to have successfully qualified our products with the AMD Phenom processors.”

Micron’s DDR2-1066 memory components offer an impressive 33 percent clock speed improvement over DDR2-800 components, currently the industry’s fastest non-overclocked DDR2 speed available. The DDR2-1066 components are produced on Micron’s industry-leading 78-nanometer 6F(2) process and operate at the JEDEC standard 1.8-volts. The 1 GB component density allows for modules in densities ranging from 512 megabytes to 2 GB. Consumers can purchase 1 and 2 GB Crucial-branded memory modules designed with Micron’s leading-edge DDR2-1066 components online at http://www.crucial.com.

“Micron’s leading edge memory technology, combined with our AMD Phenom™ quad-core processors, can provide a heightened interactive user experience by enabling unprecedented system performance,” said Bob Brewer, corporate vice president of marketing and strategy. “The graphic intensive features and multitasking functionality that users demand are requiring more and more memory to perform at optimal levels and AMD’s ongoing technology partnership with Micron is a crucial step toward empowering breakthrough computing experiences for our shared customers.”
