Vignette US Retail: $649/each

Lawrence, Kansas, August 2004–MartinLogan, the Loudspeaker Technology Company, announces the introduction of the compact and versatile new Vignette loudspeaker featuring a selection of installation options, room friendly aesthetics, ultimate crossover design, high-excursion, high-resolution bass drivers and ATF (advanced thin film) transducer technology.

Versatility in Application and Installation
Incorporating ATF (advanced thin film) transducer technology, the versatile and attractive new Vignette loudspeaker is ideal for all sound reproduction applications from 2-channel to multi-channel music as well as home theater. Designed to match any MartinLogan product in both looks and performance, the Vignette functions as main, center or surround channel(s), either on-wall or off-wall in both horizontal and vertical orientations.
The Vignette comes standard with both silver and black grill covers and a low profile, single pivot wall bracket, allowing horizontal and vertical on-wall mountings alongside plasma screens or any other location throughout the listening environment. Optional installation solutions include a floor stand, table stand, and a universal multi-pivot on-wall bracket.

Ultimate Crossover–Ultimate Clarity
Under the hood of the discrete Vignette lies a sophisticated, state-of-the-art Vojtko crossover, designed and manufactured with the same meticulous attention, care and precision as those found in MartinLogan’s ultimate loudspeaker products. Complete system engineering of Vignette’s high excursion, extremely low-mass bass drivers, in combination with a specifically tuned chamber and electronic filtering, result in superb levels of power handling and bass from this compact product.

ATF (Advanced Thin Film) Transducers Provide Clarity, Detail and Resolution
Vignette’s ATF (Advanced Thin Film) transducer, based on RADIA planar technology, consist of a micro-thin, low mass diaphragm with an ultra-light, etched conductive aluminum surface suspended between two high field strength neodymium super magnet arrays. When an electrical current (audio signal) passes through the etched aluminum on the diaphragm’s surface it is simultaneously pulled towards one of the neodymium arrays and pushed away from the opposing. When the direction of current is reversed the diaphragm is simultaneously pushed and pulled in the opposite direction, thus producing sound. This concept is called push-pull and is a major contributor to the linearity and sonic superiority of both ATF and electrostatic MartinLogan thin film transducers.
