LSI Logic Corporation, a leader in multimedia processing for the Digital Home, today announced that Creative, a worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for PC users, is leveraging the power of the LSI Logic DoMiNo 8102 (DMN-8102) codec for its USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor. Using the LSI Logic DMN-8102 device, featuring DoMiNoFX award-winning, patented video processing technologies, the USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor enables consumers to capture audio and video from any digital or analog camcorder, camera, VCR or TV, and preview, create, edit and combine video, photos, and music to produce Hollywood-style DVDs. The USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor will be demonstrated this week at CES 2005 in Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall 3-5 at the LSI Logic booth #14938.

“We selected LSI Logic’s powerful DMN-8102 for our USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor to take video input from almost any source and convert it to MPEG in real-time,” said Steve Erickson, vice president of audio for Creative. “By working with LSI Logic we are able to offer solutions that are quicker and easier to use, and, with LSI Logic’s DoMiNoFX technologies, provide the first-ever Sound Blaster with video editing capabilities for personal content.”

The USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor is designed to accept a variety of audio and video inputs that is compressed and/or converted in real-time. The content is then streamed over a USB connection to a computer for editing. The edited content can then be converted back to the original source and/or played back on a TV or VCR for viewing and recording.

The DMN-8102 codec is a true multi-format A/V codec that enables unique features for PC peripheral and TV PVR applications. These include, but are not limited to, digital restoration of old analog tapes, fast dubbing of digital videotapes, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DV codec functionality. It includes flexible features that are critical for enabling new video editing applications and support both NTSC and PAL formats.

Also included in the DMN-8102 are the DoMiNoFX technologies, which are the result of over a decade of experience in developing and improving digital processing. The market-proven video compression solutions have enabled a majority of professional digital video broadcast and production devices. With these cutting-edge technologies, LSI Logic has driven key industry firsts such as the first single-chip DVD recorder system processor, first MPEG encoders for broadcast, first multi-format codec for video editing and first real-time DV/MPEG transcoder.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Creative to bring professional video quality to consumers for PC content creation and DVD authoring,” said Bob Saffari, director of marketing for LSI Logic’s Consumer Products Division. “Creative’s USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor leverages their historical leadership in audio quality and combines this with our leadership in high-quality video solutions. Consumers seeking the ability to create Hollywood-style DVDs will be pleased with the USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor.”
