Easy to Install and Use, Compact New DigitaLinx Device Extends HDMI’s Reach Using Analog Cabling; Ideal for A/V Retrofits and Upgrades

Liberty Wire & Cable, worldwide supplier of a broad range of wire and cable products for the audio/video trade, including custom installers and systems integrators, introduces a revolutionary new HDMI over COAX Transmitter/Receiver System at INFOCOMM International 2008, the annual convention of the International Communications Industries Association, beginning here later this month.

The HDMI over COAX Transmitter/Receiver is the newest addition to Liberty’s extensive DigitaLinx family of products, further enhancing Liberty’s position as the industry leader in long-distance HDMI technology. Devices like Liberty’s compact new Transmitter/Receiver system transmit true HDMI signals, not an analog version of a digital signal, over already installed coaxial cable, eliminating the need to run all-new wires throughout a home or office. Liberty’s device is easy to install and use, works perfectly with the RGBHV coax cables typically used for VGA or component signals, and provides A/V professionals with unparalleled flexibility.

Also significant: Liberty’s system is the only HDMI extender designed to function using the HDMI 1.3 standard at a high enough speed (10.2 Gbps) to future-proof new installations. Tests indicate 1080p performance at distances over 300 feet with common cables.

“Liberty’s new HDMI over COAX device is ideal for retrofitting existing analog A/V systems,” says Kirk Horlbeck, Senior Vice President of Marketing. “With the switch from analog to digital picking up speed, and Blu-Ray and 1080p being adopted as industry standards, it’s quickly becoming essential to provide custom professionals with an HDMI 1.3 Category 2 solution utilizing existing cables.”

Consisting of a transmitter module and a receiver module, the HDMI Over COAX system uses conventional HDMI cable to connect to sources and displays. Four or five conductor coax cables are used to connect the transmitter to the receiver, and the power plug can work at either end. There are LED status indicators for Display, Source and Power. With its small form-factor and ease of use, it significantly extends the reach of HDMI over existing coax cabling.

“Liberty’s HDMI Over COAX will help build our customers businesses and their bottom lines,” says John Dace, Vice President of Sales. “HDMI over COAX allows A/V professionals to move their current analog customer base to HDMI signal distribution by executing a Liberty HDMI upgrade. With a simple on-site visit, they will be able to extend the life-spans of their customers’ current analog installations while providing AV professionals with opportunities to upgrade displays, entertainment sources, cables, and switchers.”

The HDMI over COAX Transmitter/Receiver system can be seen with Liberty’s other outstanding products at Liberty’s Exhibit Booth C3160, Las Vegas Convention Center, during the show.
