To further complement those two trends, LG Electronics has announced a global rollout of a new Smart Cam for select LG TVs.
The VC23GA is a 1080p Full HD (FHD) resolution video camera with dual microphones built-in to support clear voice communication. The Smart Cam integrates with LG’s 2022 and 2023 webOS-powered smart TVs. The camera connects via the TV’s USB version 2.0 port.
VC23GA Features
The LG Smart Cam incorporates a slim design that fits compatible LG Smart TVs launched in 2022 or 2023, including its lifestyle TV lineup. The VC23GA attaches to the top of the TV via magnetic connectors. The camera blends in with the LG TV design to give the appearance of a single device.
The pairing of the smart cam and TV offers convenient video calling and conferencing, an elevated home fitness experience, and much more for LG Smart TV users.
Virtual Meetings
Use the camera to video phone-calling or connect with co-workers, clients, family, or friends via RemoteMeeting, an innovative web-based video conferencing service that also works across PCs, laptops, and smartphones. The Multi-view feature facilitates visual group meetings.
Fitness and Health
Exercite: This is a home fitness app that utilizes advanced AI motion and exercise recognition algorithms. This accurately tracks the user’s body throughout each movement with the Smart Cam to provide real-time feedback on exercise techniques – helping users optimize their performance.
FlexIT: This app features camera-assisted live one-on-one sessions with top fitness and wellness professionals. The combination of the camera and TV enables a customized user experience. Entertainment
The VC23GA supports new entertainment options including the selfie app, Fun Mirror, and the popular dance tutorial app, 1M HomeDance.

- Home Dance by 1M, is a collaboration between LG and South Korea’s iconic MILLION Dance Studio. This app provides a variety of tutorials and dance clips to help users hone their dancing skills. Users can perform alongside the instructor in Camera Mode and learn the choreography routines more efficiently.
Security
Although the VC23GA opens up more uses for compatible LG TVs, there is also security to keep in mind. Smart TVs don’t have the same security software that is available for PCs or smartphones.
Tip: When not in use, the camera incorporates a cover so others can’t see what you are doing. However, for many, that might not be enough as the camera also includes a microphone. Although you can “turn off” the camera and mic, for more complete security I would suggest unplugging the camera from the TV’s USB port when not in use. It may seem like a hassle, but it eliminates the camera as a potential security risk.
