LG MAGNIT 136-Inch Micro LED TV: The New Giant in Home Cinema For Those With Very Deep Pockets

LG MAGNIT 136-inch Active Matrix Micro LED TV delivers next-level pixel control, modular design, and stunning 4K visuals for high-end home theaters.

LG Magnit 136-inch Active Micro LED TV

LG may be best known for OLED and QNED TVs, but the company is quietly ramping up its Micro LED and Direct View (DVLED) offerings under the MAGNIT and DVLED labels. These high-end displays, aimed at both professional and luxury home theater setups, leverage self-emitting diode technology—ranging from true MicroLEDs to “near-MicroLEDs,” where LEDs are too large to be MicroLEDs but still smaller than typical MiniLED backlights—delivering unparalleled brightness, color precision, and scale.

LG MAGNIT Active Matrix Micro-LED: Next-Level Brightness and Precision for Home and Pro Displays

LG has officially launched its first 136-inch MAGNIT TV featuring Active Matrix Micro LED technology. This advanced system gives ultra-precise control over every individual pixel, surpassing standard Micro LED performance.

The next-generation MAGNIT delivers outstanding image clarity, deep contrast, and remarkable visual depth, setting a new standard for premium home entertainment experiences.

Part of LG’s flagship MAGNIT lineup, the LG MAGNIT Active Matrix Micro LED boasts a massive 136-inch screen (approximately 118.1 inches wide × 66.9 inches tall), 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160), and a staggering 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, engineered to deliver unmatched immersion and lifelike visuals.

What is Active Matrix Technology?

Active Matrix technology for Micro LED gives each pixel its own dedicated driver. Unlike traditional Passive Matrix systems, which control pixels via row and column scanning, LG’s Active Matrix approach enables precise, individual pixel-level control for sharper detail and true ultra-high-definition image quality.

This technology also supports higher brightness levels while maintaining uniformity across the entire screen, ensuring every inch of the display performs consistently. For a deeper dive into how Active Matrix drives Micro LED panels, see “Decoding Micro-LED’s Current Driving Methods.”

Screen Surface and Modular Construction

LG’s proprietary surface treatment further enhances black levels and reduces the effects of ambient lighting, delivering superior color accuracy.

Built from modular panels, the 136-inch MAGNIT Micro LED TV is precisely aligned to minimize gaps between sections, creating a seamless viewing surface. Combined with flicker-free processing, this design ensures a comfortable, strain-free viewing experience even during extended sessions.

AI Processor

To optimize what you see on the screen even better, the LG MAGNIT Active Matrix TV incorporates LG’s α9 AI Processor (6th Generation).

The processor enables the display to analyze the creator’s intent and optimize what you see in every scene. It reduces noise, sharpens clarity, and recognizes faces, objects, text, and backgrounds to deliver more natural, detailed, and lifelike images. In addition, a 144Hz refresh rate supports smooth, blur-free motion, making it ideal for fast-paced gaming and dynamic sports content.

The LG MAGNIT Active Matrix Micro LED also provides HDR support, including Dolby Vision. This further enables the TV to display accurate colors, sharper contrast, and richer details. It has also received Color Consistency Wide Viewing certification from TÜV Rheinland.

WebOS on LG MAGNIT: Smart TV Platform Powering Seamless Streaming and Control

LG’s WebOS smart TV platform gives users access to LG Channels, the company’s free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, along with a wide range of other streaming apps and gaming content.

With LG Gallery+ (subscription required), users can transform their living spaces into personalized exhibitions, displaying everything from famous artworks to gaming illustrations.

The display also supports AirPlay 2 and Miracast, allowing seamless screen sharing from both iOS and Android devices for added convenience.

Audio

The LG MAGNIT Active Matrix TV includes a built-in audio system capable of delivering decent sound on its own. That said, anyone willing to spend this kind of money on a 136-inch Micro LED display is unlikely to rely on the internal speakers; they’ll almost certainly pair it with a high-end soundbar or a dedicated surround sound system for a truly immersive audio experience.

The TV provides built-in speakers on each side to deliver 4.2-channel surround sound with a total output of 100 watts. The display also supports enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) for connection to a compatible external soundbar, powered speaker setup, or home theater system with an AVR.

Installation

LG designed the MAGNIT Active Matrix Micro LED TV with flexible installation options and a comfortable viewing experience in mind. The TV meets FCC regulations for electromagnetic compatibility in residential environments and carries Class 2 certification from the British Standards Institution for flammability, confirming its suitability for home and indoor use.

Pro Tip: LG plans to scale the Active Matrix Micro LED platform for video wall applications, expanding its footprint across home, commercial, and educational markets.

From Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.: “With its impressive size that spans an entire wall in lifelike colors and stunning high-definition detail, the new LG MAGNIT Active Micro LED transforms a home into a true theater, delivering an unmatched cinematic experience.”

The Bottom Line

Micro LED TVs have long been limited by extreme costs, keeping them largely out of the mainstream, though they’ve found success in commercial, cinema, and specialized large-format applications thanks to their modular, adaptable construction.

While Samsung and Sony have made modest inroads into residential setups, LG’s Active Matrix MAGNIT line, alongside Quantum Media Systems, Just Video Walls, and even offerings from Hisense, signal that more players are staking a claim in the high-end Micro LED space.

LG’s precision pixel control could be a game-changer—but the real impact will depend on whether these innovations can bring Micro LED closer to serious home theaters without breaking six digits.

Price & Availability

The 136-inch LG MAGNIT Active Matrix Micro LED TV is available in Korea, but will be available in other markets, including North America, on a gradual basis. No US pricing has been provided.
