HAI Joins U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Expands Energy Management Product Offerings

HAI will be demonstrating several new Energy Management products in Booth 4642 at the International Builders Show, including the award-winning Omnistat2 smart programmable communicating thermostat and three Load Control Modules for high wattage loads such as pool pumps and hot water heaters

HAI (Home Automation, Inc.), leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, announced today that it has joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit industry group committed to expanding sustainable building practices and promoting energy efficiency in new construction. The group’s 12,000 members include building owners, real estate developers, facility managers, architects, designers, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, product and building system manufacturers, government agencies, and nonprofits.
“Saving energy has been a core concern and objective for HAI since its inception in 1985,” explains HAI President Jay McLellan. “Throughout the years we’ve participated in research with various government agencies for enhanced logic thermostats, ‘health’ monitoring for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, the Zero Energy Homes project, and have worked with the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s Home Energy Monitoring and Building America programs to develop energy solutions for new and existing homes. In addition, HAI is a supporter of the U.S Dept. of Energy’s Solar Decathlon. Joining the USGBC is another step in our endeavor to bring affordable energy saving products to the building and consumer markets.”
HAI recently announced its newest generation of programmable communicating thermostats, Omnistat2, which won a CES Innovations Award in the Home Appliance category at the Consumer Electronics Show held in early January in Las Vegas. The Omnistat2 is a 7-day programmable communicating thermostat designed to precisely control the temperature and humidity within the home. Using advanced digital technology, it actually “learns” a home’s heating and cooling patterns and adjusts control to maximize both the HVAC system’s efficiency and the occupants’ comfort. It will begin shipping in March, 2008.
HAI also announced today that it will begin shipping three Load Control Modules (LCMs) to control the power consumption of high wattage loads such as pool pumps and hot water heaters. There will be three versions, all of which will be shipping in the second quarter of 2008:
1. HLC Load Control Module, which is part of HAI’s Lighting Control (HLC) product line utilizing Generation II UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) technology over existing power lines.
2. Hardwired Load Control Module, a 20 AMP Relay Module that connects directly to voltage outputs on HAI Home Controllers and expanders and includes a manual override switch.
3. Wireless Utility Load Control Module, which is designed for load control communication through a participating utility company.
HAI will be demonstrating all of its new Energy Management products in Booth 4642 at the International Builders Show in Orlando, FL, February 13 — 16, 2008. HAI products are available through a worldwide network of Distributors and installing dealers.
