Gateway FX Line Notebooks Announced

Gateway Takes 64-Bit Computing Mobile and Makes It Convenient to Buy Notebook PCs with Debut of New Models Available Both Direct from Gateway and at Leading Retailers Nationwide

Gateway today introduces new models in its line of popular notebook PCs, including additions to the company’s acclaimed FX line of notebooks for digital media enthusiasts and gamers, as well as new models with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition.

New models are available at leading retailers nationwide and direct from Gateway via 1-800-GATEWAY or http://www.gateway.com.

All of the new models come with Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1), giving customers the latest additional enhancements to improve their PC experience. In addition, several new models come with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition w/SP1, which provides additional performance benefits for serious gamers, expert media creators and enthusiasts. It also lets customers experience faster system responsiveness when paired with 4GB of memory.

Enthusiast “FX” Line Features P-Series and M-Series Models
Gateway introduced its “FX” version of its P-Series notebooks earlier in the year to give enthusiasts a way to enjoy all their digital media and gaming applications on the go in a notebook with a stunning 17-inch display. Gateway has now extended its FX Series’ advanced capabilities to the M-Series notebook line, making these advantages available in a more mainstream and affordable package with a 15.4-inch display.

Gateway’s first M-Series FX Edition notebook, the Gateway M-6850FX includes a 15.4-inch display, an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 processor, ATI Radeon HD 2600 graphics, 3072MB of DDR2 SDRAM and a 320GB(1) 5400RPM SATA hard drive. It also boasts a multi-format dual layer DVD-R/RW/DVD-RAM drive with LabelFlash technology(2) for burning images and text onto a DVD or CD. The system will be available at Best Buy at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $999.99.

Gateway’s P-Series FX Edition notebooks take the delivery of premium technology up a notch with a striking 17-inch display and world-class technologies, such as the NVIDIA GeForce™ 8800M GTS 512MB GDDR3 graphics solution, HDMI and ESATA ports.

The Gateway P-172X FX Edition comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS 512MB GDDR3, 4096MB of memory, 320GB of hard drive storage(1) (two x 160GB RAID 0) and a slot load DVD-R/RW/DVD-RAM. It also features an integrated webcam, 802.11n Wifi networking, a 1920×1200 resolution display and a fingerprint reader. It is available direct from Gateway for $1,999.99.

The P-Series FX Edition is also available to customers who want to shop retail. The Gateway P-6860FX comes with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition with SP1 and will be available beginning this weekend at Best Buy with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,349.99. It comes with NVIDIA GeForce™ 8800M GTS 512MB GDDR3, an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 processor, 4096MB of DDR2 SDRAM and a 320GB(1) 5400RPM SATA hard drive. This system also comes with a multi-format dual layer DVD-R/RW/DVD-RAM drive with LabelFlash technology(2) for burning images and text onto a DVD or CD.

New T-Series and M-Series Models Deliver Style and Performance
The new Gateway T-Series and M-Series notebooks boast a sleek, eye-catching design with popular features such as an integrated web cam for video emails and chats. The two lines also both provide first-rate performance for mobile PC customers with the latest processors from AMD and Intel. The M-Series and T-Series come with a precision touch multimedia control panel, which is integrated into the keyboard panel with smooth-cut keys, giving customers convenient access to frequently-used audio and video functions such as DVD, audio, stop, fast-forward and rewind. Volume can be controlled by the new touch-sensitive volume slide.

Select models feature an HDMI port to let consumers connect their notebook to a display device (TV, monitor) to view applications, games, digital media content, as well as high definition video and audio through a single connection.

The M-Series boasts more power and performance by combining Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition with SP1 with a 15.4-inch display. The Gateway M-1626 boasts an AMD Turion TL-60 processor and an ATI Radeon HD x1270 graphics, 4096MB of memory, 250GB hard drive storage(1) and a DVD-R/RW/DVD-RAM. It also features HDMI and 802.11g Wifi networking. It is available at leading retailers for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $849.99.

The Gateway T-Series features a 5.55-pound form factor with a 14.1-inch display and is available at leading retailers nationwide. One of the models, the T-1628, comes with an AMD Turion 64 TL-60 with X2 Mobile Technology, ATI Radeon x1270 graphics, 3072MB of memory, 250GB of hard drive storage(1) and a DVD-R/RW/DVD-RAM with LabelFlash Technology.(2) It also features HDMI and 802.11g Wifi networking. It is available at leading retailers at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $749.99.

Convertible Notebook for Pen-Based Computing
For busy professionals and students on the go, the Gateway C-142XL Convertible Notebook PC offers digital pen capabilities with the full performance of a mainstream notebook PC, making it ideal for taking handwritten notes, drawing diagrams, editing documents and enjoying full PC features. The Wacom stylus pen lets customers write accurately and comfortably. The Gateway C-142XL notebook includes an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor, ATI Radeon X2300 HD graphics, a 250GB(1) hard drive and 3072MB of memory. It is available direct from Gateway for $1,299.99 beginning in May.
