DENVER, CO — CEDIA Booth #610 — ELAN Home Systems announced today the trade debut of its new Volume Control line. The six new ergonomically-designed models, available in Electronic, Slider and Rotary formats, replace ELAN’s existing lineup, providing Dealers with a streamlined selection of Volume Controls that suit every application. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.
“Our goal with this new lineup,” stated Mr. Farinelli, “is to provide our Dealers with a simplified selection of Volume Controls that meets all of their audio needs, look fantastic on the wall, and are easy to order and inventory.”
ELAN’s new, state-of-the-art Volume Control offering consists of six models in three different designs that include Electronic push-button, Slider and Rotary. All models feature a finely contoured on-wall look, wall plates with no visible screws, and are available in six decor-matching colors: white, almond, light almond, ivory, black and brown.
Designed to precise engineering specifications, all models utilize ELAN’s Equi-Step technology, which provides audibly equal volume increments over all 12 steps. Precision-wound transformers with vacuum impregnated high-grade silicon steel laminates ensure super-flat frequency response with no inductive resonance. Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) circuitry protects both the volume control and amplifier from damage in the event of a miswire. Each Volume Control has four impedance match settings for optimal performance in multi-room applications. Labeled, removable connectors accept up to 14 AWG wire and are designed to go on only one way — making wire terminations trouble-free and easy. ELAN’s long-time patented Override circuit allows page and door chime audio to be heard over the speakers even if the volume control is turned all the way down. Page and doorbell audio levels can be set individually for each room.
Representing the state-of-the-art in volume control technology, the 100WPC VSE2 Electronic Volume Control does away with the traditional rotary knob, opting for an elegant keypad look with low profile buttons. Micro-miniature LEDs provide discrete, yet easy-to-see, volume level feedback. Large, user-friendly Volume UP and DOWN buttons make adjusting the level easy while the MUTE button mutes the volume completely. Page and doorbell override levels, as well as turn-on levels, are easily programmable via the front buttons. A built-in IR receiver allows for armchair control from across the room.
The VSOS, VMOS and VSS Volume Controls feature smooth, 12-step sliders and 100WPC power handling capabilities. The VSOS and VMOS have easily configured jumpers for setting Page & Doorbell Override levels. The VSS is perfect for rooms where Page & Doorbell Override is not required. The VMOS is a mono volume control for use in single speaker applications or rooms without a stationary listening area.
The VSR and VSR35 are Decora-style volume controls with tapered rotary knobs. Both models incorporate the same precision engineering and sound quality as their slider counterparts. The VSR is rated at 100WPC. The VRS35, rated at 35WPC, is ideal for low-power applications.
ELAN’s entire new line of volume controls will begin shipping in the fourth quarter of 2007 with MSRPs ranging from $36.00 to $190.00 each. To see the new ELAN control panels in action, stop by ELAN’s booth #610 at CEDIA 2007 in Denver, Colorado.
