ISF-Certified Supernova Curved Screen Recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association.
COSTA MESA, Calif. — January 7, 2008 — dnp denmark, the world’s leading supplier of optical projection screen technology and developer of the first-ever front screen that allows viewing in brightly lit environments, has announced its revolutionary Supernova Epic Screen has been selected by the Consumer Electronics Association (CES) as an Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award honoree in the Video Displays product category.
Judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade press, the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognize the most innovative consumer electronic products in the industry. All honorees are featured in a special display at the 2008 International CES held January 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Designed to be used in the very finest dedicated home theaters, the new Supernova Epic Screen provides uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies in all aspect ratios displaying superior high-contrast images in 100% neutral color. Maintaining a constant image height as in a movie theater, the Supernova Epic’s motorized masking system is fully adjustable from closed to 2.40:1 settings delivering the ultimate viewing experience for even the most demanding videophile.
“We are extremely pleased to have the Supernova Epic Screen recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association,” stated Manfred Freiberger, senior account manager for dnp USA. “The Supernova Epic Screen is designed to provide consumers with the absolute best in home theatre solutions, and to have it honored by the CES is thrilling.”
The Supernova Epic Screen has succeeded in bringing a true cinematic experience into the home. It offers the flexibility of beautifully displaying all formats from 4:3 to ultra-wide 2.40:1 Cinemascope with enhanced resolution, contrast and 100% color accuracy. When used with a projector with an anamorphic lens, the Supernova Epic maintains full image height and unwanted black bars on the top and bottom of the screen are eliminated.
Just as in a real movie theater, the Supernova Epic’s electronically controlled curtains silently glide into place to maintain constant image height and a superior viewing experience. The curtains are closer to the screen as opposed to other similar products; hence, no shadows detract from the image. And when the film is done, the curtains glide fully closed again.
The technology used to develop Supernova is based on an award-winning high-contrast filter that allows the projected image to be optimally reflected from the screen. Thanks to the optical Supernova qualities, the screen delivers better contrast than standard front screens. The Supernova Epic’s technologically advanced 0.8 gain material diffuses light more evenly over a wider angle of view achieving superior image quality by delivering more vivid colors and more detailed images.
Supreme black levels are balanced with a precisely calibrated brightness level to create vivid images with full color saturation regardless of viewing position. With the Supernova Epic Screen you get a more dynamic image with truer, better, deeper colors. Black is more black and high definition movies are displayed in their full resolution, the way they were intended to be seen.
The Supernova Epic is available up to 156″ in standard sizes and can be delivered in custom sizes up to 156″ as well. The screen material has been certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) for exceeding the benchmarks of quality that define the best in video performance available for consumers.
