CHAMPAIGN, IL – February 15, 2007 – CodexNovus, the leader in stand-alone and networked media server products, was named a finalist in the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards. The HDcodex DML-1600 standalone digital media player could take home top honors in the Best Media Servers category. Winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony on March 9, 2007 during the 2007 Electronic House Expo Spring in Orlando, Florida.

Sponsored by the CEA, the TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards are one of the consumer electronics industry’s most prestigious accolades. The Mark of Excellence Awards celebrate the finest achievements in custom electronics products, services and installations. The judging team for the TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards is comprised of a four-person panel of system integrators, manufacturers and members of the trade press. Finalists represent the very best technologies and achievements in their category.

“CodexNovus is honored to be recognized by the TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards program as a top contender in the Best Media Server category,” said Hugo Feugen, president of CodexNovus. “We believe the HDcodex DML-1600 provides the best digital playback technology on the market, and we are pleased that the CEA has chosen to recognize all our product has to offer.”

Featuring 1.6 terabytes of memory, the DML-1600 allows the media lover to access his or her entire collection of movies, music, and other media at the touch of a button. The DML-1600 supports all commonly used digital media formats, in SD and HD formats at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080p. High-resolution audio is delivered in multi-channel 5.1, and 7.1 formats — all in a self-contained platform designed for unparalleled ease of use.

Easiest User Interface on the Market

• The HDcodex servers are certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF). ISF certification ensures the company’s media storage devices meet the metrics and specifications that define the very best video performance available for consumers.
HDcodex servers incorporate All Media Guide’s (AMG) LASSO media recognition system, which enables users to organize their libraries with all of the metadata–artist, album, genre, and style information–for a more heightened media experience right at their fingertips.
• All HDcodex products can be totally remote-control driven, using the infrared remote control included, or by RS-232. Additionally, the DML-1600 is compatible with most popular home control systems.
• The DML-1600 offers matchless flexibility and configuration options and supports MPEG, AVI, TS, VC-1, MP2, MP3, AC3, WAV, AAC, HTML, SWF, BMP, PNG, TIFF, GIF and JPEG media files.

Most Flexible Player Yet
HDcodex’s powerful memory access and streaming systems allow for simultaneous streams of different media to different rooms anywhere in the home or business. And its unique multimedia support capacity makes it the ideal server for a trade show presentation environment, point-of-purchase kiosk, or any interactive environment.
• As the user’s media collection grows, HDcodex provides for virtually limitless storage capacity, which can be expanded at any time, simply by adding disk storage. Additionally, the system supports the latest compression technologies, conserving disk space while still maintaining video and audio quality.
• At an MSRP of $6,995, the HDcodex DML-1600 is priced thousands of dollars lower than comparable competing models, while still allowing for a generous dealer profit margin.
