Cineversum BlackWing One Projector

New Entry-level Full HD Projector is Long on Performance and Features, Blended with European Styling and Craftsmanship

Cineversum, a cutting-edge brand of video products for the residential market, has announced their BlackWing One digital video projector in the North American market. StJohn Group, exclusive North American distributor and marketer for the product line, will ship the first units in mid-December.

The BlackWing One (MSRP $6,500) is a state-of-the-art multi-use full-HD 1080P 24P, digital projector and integrates the latest technologies available on the market such as three 0.6″ LCoS panels at a native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, pre-calibration to D65 and CIE rec 709 high definition color space, >15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and two HDMI 1.3 connections.

The BlackWing One joins the existing line-up of BlackWing Two ($9,995 MSRP) and BlackWing Three ($13,500) 3-chip LCoS models.

The ultra quiet, projector is housed inside a futuristic deep metallic-black ABS plastic chassis designed by the famed French designer Antoine Beon. The design celebrates the concept of speed and precision with an unforgettable futuristic shape reminiscent of the Stealth Fighter; hence, the name BlackWing.

Custom colors are available making the designer-friendly model easy to integrate into a wide variety of decors. Custom in-field calibration and automation is made available for qualified installing specialists via the BlackWing One’s RS232 communication port.

John Caldwell, sales director for StJohn Group, stated, “What sets Cineversum apart is their unique combination of proven 3-chip performance that incorporates cutting edge deep color technology, with hand calibration for today’s HD sources like broadcast and Blu-ray. Combine this with features like vertical image stretch for 2.35 cinemascope viewing, the finest quality materials, lowest operating noise level, Euro styling and unmatched attention to detail, and the results are astonishing. The BlackWing One is quite possibly the finest value in a home theater projector available under $7,000.”

For projection on 2.37 screens such as the new TAM Masking Screens from Screen Excellence, and others, the BlackWing One can also be easily retrofitted with its Theater Concept Kit consisting of a quick motorized sled for moving an anamorophic lens into place for constant height projection of cinemascope material. Thanks to the optional Cinemax Kit (a permanent anamorphic converter fixed in front of the projector), BlackWing One can display a wide picture, respecting the original 2.37:1 aspect ratio of the movies. With only one key of the remote control, the user will be able to switch from the classic 16:9 aspect ratio to a breathtaking Cinemascope format. The exclusive Cineversum Theatre Mode made this possible.

The real purists, seeking a premium cinema-like projection, will opt for the Theater Concept Kit consisting of a whisper quiet and quick motorized sled for moving a first-grade anamorphic lens into place for constant height projection of cinemascope material.

About Cineversum
Cineversum initially was conceived as the dedicated consumer brand for famed Belgian video manufacturer Barco. In September 2004, Technic Electronic Conseil (T.E.C.) took over worldwide distribution of Barco’s home theater business, including the Cineversum name. T.E.C. is based in the Montmartre district of Paris, France.

Led by French industry veteran and pioneer Jean-Claude Younes, T.E.C. has successfully developed the Cineversum Home Cinema Concept. In close cooperation with partners such as Barco, Cineversum has steadily built a range of cutting-edge video products for the professional home theater market and are distributing them worldwide through a network of specialist distributors.

The Cineversum line is the perfect complement to the premium brands already in the StJohn Group portfolio of design-first brands.
