Coaxials and component systems featuring 3-inch voice coils and extraordinary power handling for extreme SPL installations
Blaupunkt has introduced the new Velocity line of “high horsepower” coaxial and component full range speakers. The line includes five coaxial models and three component sets that feature rugged cast aluminum baskets, woven fiber cones, oversized voice coils, and high-energy magnets to meet the needs of the most demanding autosound enthusiast.
The Blaupunkt Velocity speakers employ extremely large 3-inch voice coils and massive magnets to provide excellent power handling, great sound quality, and very high SPL levels. All models include attractive perforated metal grilles, heavy-duty aluminum cast baskets that resist deformation and resonance at all power levels, and sturdy front-mount screws for extremely sturdy and simple installation. Polypropylene magnet caps are provided for improved cosmetics and superior protection, but are removable for ease of installation.
Each Velocity full-range speaker features a woven fiberglass woofer that provides the look of carbon fiber without the adverse flexing of CF materials. The 1-inch silk dome tweeters feature a two–layer Kapton voice coil and high power neodymium magnet. On coaxial models, this tweeter is completely flush with the mounting plate for improved reliability and protection, while component systems include multiple mounting cups for a variety of tweeter installation options.
The Blaupunkt Velocity coaxial and component speakers will be available in February. Coaxial models will be available in sizes ranging from 5-1/4 inch to 6 x 9 inches, with suggested retail prices of $159.95 to $189.95, depending on size. Velocity component systems will be available with 5-1/4, 6.5, or 6.6-inch “oversize” woofers, each with a suggested retail price of $189.95 per set.
