This Surge Protector is the first to clamp onto a surface edge, making it easier to quickly plug in and unplug your devices

(Compton, CA) — August 15, 2006 — By clamping onto the edge of a desk, workbench, or two-by-four, Belkin’s new Clamp-On Surge Protector makes it more convenient to access your power outlets. Ideal for the DIY enthusiast or a home-office user, the Clamp-On Surge Protector offers portability to be moved to locations that are most convenient. It will ship in North America in October, with launches in Asia, Europe, and Australia to follow shortly.

“Most of the time, surge protectors are made for placement on the ground,” says Kelly Berg, Sr. Product Manager for Belkin. “By adding the clamp-on feature, you can move and mount the Surge Protector to an easy-to-reach spot–whether it’s your computer desk or your workbench in the garage.”

The power-protection market has been missing surge protectors that combine functionality with thoughtful design that are respectful of people’s needs. In focus groups conducted to better understand people’s needs, Belkin found that–along with protection from power disturbances–design and safety were major drivers. People are also looking for a surge protector that can be clamped or fastened to a surface.

Clamp-On Surge Protector (BZ106000-10) — $34.99
Attaching to the edge of a desk, table, workbench, two-by-four, or sawhorse, the Clamp-On Surge Protector quickly moves from your workshop to your home–its versatility is limited only by your imagination (and 1-1/2 inches in height). Clamp it to the back of a TV stand or home-theater rack to easily protect your entertainment equipment. In the garage, use it to plug in utility lights or power tools.

The Clamp-On Surge Protector plugs in all your electronics with exceptional convenience. It keeps up to six pieces of equipment protected from damaging power surges.

Benefits
• Provides mountable design for portability and convenience
• Offers 6 surge-protected outlets (4 regular and 2 BlockSpace)
• Features extra-long–10 ft.–power cord
• Comes with a $15,000 Connected Equipment Warranty
