AVAD Hosts Six Designer Boot Camps

AVAD is the exclusive 2006 provider of Designer Boot Camps that teach contractors how to design electronics systems to maximize performance

Van Nuys, Calif. — August 1, 2006 — AVAD, LLC, America’s leading distributor of custom home electronics products, today announced it will host six, two-day Designer Boot Camps at several AVAD locations nationwide from August through November. AVAD’s sponsorship ensures that these vital courses are available throughout the United States — giving a wider audience of integrators and dealers the opportunity to improve their skill sets.

The six, two-day workshops will be held inside AVAD’s high-tech classroom facilities. The boot camps are for technicians who design home integration systems and who are looking to take the next step in their careers. CEDIA Certified Instructor Todd B. Adams will lead each of the workshops, teaching attendees how to design their own complex residential electronics systems to maximize performance. Adams, a veteran speaker and systems designer, is president of DIpartner.com and author of three books on residential electronics system design.

2006 Designer Boot Camp Schedule:

– August 9 — 10 – AVAD, Tampa, FL
– August 16 — 17 – AVAD, Gaithersburg, MD
– September 16 — 17 – CEDIA EXPO, Denver, CO
– October 3 — 4 – CEDIA Training Facility, Indianapolis, IN
– October 16 — 17 – AVAD, Austin, TX
– October 23 — 24 – AVAD, San Jose, CA
– November 7 — 8 – AVAD, Raleigh, NC
– November 13 — 14 – AVAD, Avon, OH

Workshop topics include how to develop an engineering design philosophy, create a cable specification plan, generate a system design using block diagrams, lay out a system design on floor plans, create programming specifications and how to perform a project-needs analysis.

“We are excited to be the exclusive provider of this year’s CEDIA designer boot camp workshops,” said Bob Gartland, president of AVAD. “The sponsorship was a natural fit for AVAD, as our company has long been the premier supplier of education to the custom installation specialist.”

The two-day Designer Boot Camp costs $995. The cost of the workshop includes lunch, a course workbook with objectives and activities and a CD with case study files. Attendees will receive 10 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which go toward maintaining CEDIA Certification. To register for a Designer Boot Camp in your area, contact Erin Reynolds at (800) 669-5329 ext 159 or ereynolds@cedia.org. Registration is also available at www.cedia.org/education.
