Atlantic Technology has added two new speaker models to its In-Ceiling Theater Speaker (ICTS) line, the 6-1/2-inch ICTS-6.2 and 8-inch ICTS-8.2. These innovative two-way ceiling speakers are equally adept at providing spectacular sound for stereo reproduction in a distributed or local audio system, or as front or surround channels in a complete home theater system. They provide an ideal solution for any situation where room layout or aesthetic considerations require the use of in-ceiling speakers.

The ICTS-8.2 and ICTS-6.2 each utilize a 1-inch silk dome tweeter mounted in a clever pivoting housing that allows installers and consumers to aim the high frequencies in any direction for the best sonic effect and the specific application. For instance, tweeter reproduction can be directed toward a primary listening position even when not mounted directly overhead, or reflected off a rear or side wall to provide the diffuse sound called for when the speakers are employed as the surround channels in a home theater system.

The ICTS –6.2 and ICTS–8.2 feature long-throw woofers which use Mica/Graphite-loaded polymer cones with rubber surrounds and high-temperature voice coils. The ICTS-6.2 uses a 6.5-inch woofer and has a frequency response of 55 Hz — 20 kHz (+/-3dB). Thanks to its larger 8-inch woofer, the ICTS-8.2’s frequency range extends all the way down to 45 Hz.

The Atlantic Technology ICTS speakers utilize advanced computer-optimized crossovers, gold-plated heavy-duty connectors, and simple rotating clamp mounting for exceptional acoustic performance and easy installation. A front mounted three-position HF level adjustment that allows high frequency reproduction to be tailored to reflective, normal, or absorptive acoustic environments.

The ICTS 6.2 and ICTS-8.3 will be available in August at an estimated street price of $350/pair and $500/pair, respectively.
