Apricorn, the leader in personal storage, today announced the 1.5 TB DVR Xpander, the highest capacity DVR external hard drive on the market. The DVR Xpander can add up to 843 hours of standard programming or 187.5 hours of high definition programming to your DVR.

“With the increasing availability of HD content, there never seems to be enough space to record all the great shows, movies and sporting events,” said Mike McCandless, Apricorn’s VP of Sales and Marketing. “As the largest capacity DVR expander on the market, we give our customers enough space so they can go on vacation and not miss any of their favorite programs and sporting events.”

Available in 500GB, 750GB, 1TB, and now 1.5 TB capacities, and sporting a dual eSATA / USB 2.0 interface, the DVR Xpander is compatible with a wide variety of DVRs including the Scientific Atlanta 8300 series DVR (via eSATA connection), provided by many cable companies; and the DISH Network ViP Series HD DVRs (via USB 2.0 connection).

Simple to install and easy to use, the DVR Xpander can be set up in minutes. Simply connect the DVR Xpander to the active eSATA or USB 2.0 port on the back of the DVR (depending on your system), format the drive using the DVR prompts and your DVR capacity is instantly increased. The DVR Xpander’s sleek aluminum enclosure and whisper quiet, fan cooled design keeps the drive cool, even when set back in a TV cabinet.

System Requirements

  • Your DVR eSATA port must be active to use the DVR Xpander. If you are unsure if your DVR eSATA port is active or the DVR Xpander is compatible with your system, please refer to the Apricorn website or your cable provider.
  • DISH Network customers may need to activate their account to use an external hard drive with their DVR. Please contact your provider or refer to the Dish Network website for details.

1 terabyte (TB) = 1 trillion bytes = 1000 gigabytes

*Accessible capacity will be less and actual capacity depends on the operating environment and formatting.
