Innovative Image Engine, Now With HDMI, Dramatically Cleans Digital Video Signals of Multiple Noise Artifacts; Ideal for Big-Screen Home Theaters

CEDIA EXPO, DENVER, CO, Sept. 14, 2006 – Algolith, a leading developer of video image enhancement solutions, introduces the Flea HDMI™ Digital Video Enhancer at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo 2006, beginning here today.

The Flea HDMI is an essential, unobtrusive, addition for Home Theater enthusiasts seeking to dramatically improve the picture quality of compressed Standard Definition and High Definition images. Weighing less than one pound and equal in size to a paperback novel, the new Flea HDMI upgrades Algolith’s ground-breaking original Flea by the addition of an HDMI input.

It also includes the new edition, Version 2.0, of Algolith’s Operating Software, which represents a major advance in performance. It renders the Flea HDMI both more efficient and effective, and improves its ability to address blocking in highly compressed images.

The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) permits the Flea to transmit and process uncompressed digital video signals from an HDMI-compatible source component to an HDMI-compatible display. Using a single, simple, user-friendly cable, the HDMI protocol supports standard, enhanced and high-definition digital video, transmitting all signal standards with bandwidth to spare.

The Flea HDMI reduces noise and artifacts introduced by compressed digital video signals from such sources as DVDs, satellites, digital cable, PVRs and Home Theater PCs. The device is especially efficient when used with new large-screen digital displays and projectors that magnify image artifacts.

Compression noise artifacts known as “mosquito noise” are reduced using a proprietary pixel-based algorithm. The Flea HDMI employs Block Artifact Reduction to blend and diminish 8×8-pixel block structures in MPEG images, improving the clarity of fast-moving action scenes. It harnesses Algolith’s advanced motion adaptive temporal filtering to eliminate noise due to poor reception and low light. Finally, the Flea HDMI processes for image enhancement, which results in exceptionally sharp, noise-free pictures.

The Flea HDMI is available now from authorized Algolith dealers at a suggested retail price of $995. It can be seen with Algolith’s other outstanding products in Booth 375, Colorado Convention Center, during the show.
