Sony’s 2025 BRAVIA TV Prices Are Here and They’re Higher than Expected

With economic markets in turmoil, Sony just announced pricing for their new 2025 BRAVIA TVs and the news isn’t great.

Sony 2025 BRAVIA family of products

While global financial markets reel in the wake of unprecedented tariffs, an all-out trade war and impending recession (or worse) looming on the horizon, consumers are going to have to brace for higher prices pretty much across the board. And in this chaotic environment, TV makers are announcing their pricing for new models coming out this year.

Prices of Sony’s 2025 lineup of OLED and LED/LCD TVs were revealed today and they’re a bit higher than we were expecting, but not too far off from competitive models from LG and Samsung (at least in the 65-inch size)

Specifically, Sony’s new flagship QD-OLED TV, the BRAVIA 8 II has a US MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) of $3499 for the 55-inch and $3999 for the 65-inch version. The BRAVIA 8, Mark II offers peak brightness that is 25% higher than the model it replaces (A95L) and it’s coming in at a higher launch price than its predecessor the A95L had when it was unveiled in late 2023. We’ve seen the BRAVIA 8 II at press events in Tokyo and New York City and have been impressed so far by its performance. We’re looking forward to getting some quality time with the new TV as it becomes available for review.

BRAVIA 2025 TV models and prices:

  • BRAVIA 8 II OLED (65″, 55”)

    • 55″ Class (54.6″ diag): $3,499.99 USD MSRP/ $4,299.99 CA MSRP
  • BRAVIA 5 Mini LED (98”, 85″, 75″, 65″, 55″)
    • 98” Class (97.5″ diag): $6,499.99 USD MSRP/ $8,499.99 CA MSRP
    • 85″ Class (84.6″ diag): $2,999.99 USD MSRP/ $3,499.99 CA MSRP
    • 75″ Class (74.5″ diag): $2,399.99 USD MSRP/ $2,799.99 CA MSRP
    • 65″ Class (64.5″ diag): $1,799.99 USD MSRP/ $2,099.99 CA MSRP
    • 55″ Class (54.6″ diag): $1,699.99 USD MSRP/ $1,999.99 CA MSRP
  • BRAVIA 2 II LED (75″, 65″, 55″)
    • 75″ Class (74.5″ diag): $1,099.99 USD MSRP/ $1,299.99 CA MSRP
    • 65″ Class (64.5″ diag): $799.99 USD MSRP/ $999.99 CA MSRP
    • 55″ Class (54.6″ diag): $699.99 USD MSRP/ $849.99 CA MSRP

You can find out more about Sony’s 2025 BRAVIA TV Models here:

The BRAVIA 8 II is technically one step below the BRAVIA 9 Mini-LED TV in Sony’s model hierarchy. But while the BRAVIA 9 offers higher peak brightness (hence, better bright room performance), there’s no competing with the BRAVIA 8 II’s self-emissive QD-OLED panel for deep rich blacks and saturated colors that pop off the screen. So for many videophiles, the BRAVIA 8 II will be Sony’s true flagship TV for 2025. With Sony actively working on a new RGB-based backlight system, Sony’s TV line-up will likely get a shake-up – and maybe a “BRAVIA 10?” – but probably not until 2026.

The BRAVIA 8 II price is higher than LG’s new flagship, the G5 OLED TV, which is priced at $2,499 in the 55-inch size and $3,399 in the 65-inch size, but those prices were announced before last week’s tariff announcements. Samsung also unveiled pricing today of several of its 2025 model year TVs, including the S95F flagship OLED TV. It will be priced at $2299 for the 55-inch and $3299 for the 65-inch version – appreciably less than the Sony TVs in both screen sizes.

Again these are MSRPs. Real “street pricing” on all models will vary. With sales and promotions over time, we expect the actual selling price to be lower (though, with those afore-mentioned tariffs, perhaps not much lower). Pricing is not yet available for Panasonic’s Z95B OLED TV which is also expected to be in the running for best TV of the year along with the LG G5, Sony BRAVIA 8 II and Samsung S95F.

UPDATE: Sony unveiled pricing for their new soundbar and audio products on April 11:

Sony 2025 BRAVIA Theater Soundbars and Speaker Pricing

  • BRAVIA Theater System 6, 5.1ch with subwoofer, Dolby Atmos®/DTS:X® compatible – USD $769.99/ CAN $1099.99
  • BRAVIA Theater Bar 6, 3.1.2ch with wireless subwoofer, Dolby Atmos®/DTS:X® compatible USD $649.99/ CAN $799.99
  • BRAVIA Theater Rear 8 Wireless Rear Speakers – USD $449.99/ CAN $499.99

The Bottom Line

With uncertainty in global markets caused by the recently announced tariffs, it’s likely going to be a tough year to sell “luxury” items like large TVs. Will Sony’s new BRAVIA models be able to sell in quantities at these prices? Time will tell.

Don’t you love that within 5 minutes of posting this, Trump paused the tariffs for some countries for another 90 days (although the 10% is still on) while raising the tariffs on China to 125%.

I really enjoyed watching “Whiplash.” I’m just not enjoying it with my 401k plan.

401K will likely recover eventually. You just have to keep working, my brother!
