Samsung Launches Perplexity AI-Powered TV App, Bringing Generative AI Assistance to Smart TVs

Samsung teams up with Perplexity to bring AI-powered answers, smart search, and system-wide integration to it 2025 TV lineup

AI isn’t just creeping into our lives anymore—it’s moving in, unpacking, and asking for the Wi-Fi password. Samsung, never one to miss a chance to flex its tech muscles, is doubling down on that reality with its new Perplexity AI-Powered TV App. Available for iOS and Android, the app expands the Samsung Vision AI Companion experience, turning your smart TV into something that feels a lot less like a screen and a lot more like a digital know-it-all.

Designed to make searching, discovering, and bingeing smarter (and maybe a little unsettlingly personal), Samsung’s latest AI move blurs the line between convenience and sci-fi.

Perplexity isn’t your average chatbot—it’s an AI-powered answer engine that actually knows what it’s talking about. Instead of spitting out half-baked guesses, it pulls from credible sources in real time to deliver accurate answers, perform deep research, and even suggest follow-up questions that keep the conversation going. Think of it as Google Search with better manners—and a lot less guesswork—built to help users dig deeper into the content they care about without feeling like they’re talking to a toaster.

The first-of-its-kind Perplexity AI-powered app, now available exclusively on Samsung TVs, broadens our Vision AI Platform for a more unique and personalized user experience,” said Dan Glassman, Senior Director & Head of New Business Development for Samsung Electronics. “Samsung continually delivers innovative, first-to-market experiences for our device owners, and this partnership with Perplexity represents the next step in bringing cutting-edge AI technology to redefine how users interact with their TVs.”

Curiosity can strike at any time. Perplexity’s mission is to serve the world’s curiosity by bridging the gap between traditional search and innovative AI-driven interfaces,” said Ryan Foutty, VP of Business at Perplexity. “Samsung is the number one television brand in the world, and we’re excited to bring the trusted functionality Perplexity users know and love to Samsung’s television screens and device owners across the globe.”

Samsung Vision AI: Transforming How Users Search, Discover, and Interact with Their TVs

Samsung’s Vision AI Companion Experience, first unveiled at IFA 2025, marks the next leap in AI-powered display technology. The platform integrates Samsung’s most advanced AI features into a single, intuitive ecosystem designed to make TVs and smart monitors genuinely intelligent—not just connected. As part of this evolution, the Perplexity TV App now steps in as a standalone AI agent, bringing a new layer of smart, conversational assistance that pushes Samsung’s AI ambitions well beyond simple voice commands.

Getting Started with Perplexity

The Perplexity TV App delivers an easy-to-use, visually engaging experience that goes far beyond basic text responses. When you ask Perplexity a question, the results appear in high-quality, interactive graphics optimized for Samsung TVs, making the experience feel more cinematic than informational.

Simply navigate to the Perplexity TV App on your Samsung TV’s home screen and launch it—then let it handle the rest. Whether you’re planning a triptracking down every film by the Russo Brothers, or building the ultimate fantasy lineup, Perplexity brings real-time, AI-driven answers straight to your screen.

The Bottom Line

Samsung’s Vision AI experience, anchored by the Perplexity TV App, takes AI on TVs beyond simple voice commands or video enhancements by combining AI audio/video processing, Bixby voice control, Tizen Smart TV integration, and Knox Security into a single, seamless ecosystem.

While competitors like Google Gemini, Roku AI Voice, Amazon Alexa+, and Netflix AI Search offer similar AI-driven capabilities, Samsung sets itself apart with system-wide integration, making Perplexity not just an app, but a core part of the TV experience.

Availability

The Perplexity TV App is now available on all 2025 Samsung TVs and will be available on 2023 and 2024 TVs with the latest OS upgrade later this year (2025). As a bonus, Perplexity is offering a free 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro for all users. Simply scan the QR code on the Perplexity TV app to redeem.
