Amazon isn’t content to wait until Black Friday to start posting their holiday shopping deals so they made up their own shopping holiday, “Prime Day” (which is actually held over multiple days… but I digress…). In today’s Prime Day deal, the online retailer has dropped the price of two of the top 4K OLED TVs of 2023: LG’s C3 and Sony’s A80L.
Today (October 10, 2023) and tomorrow (or while supplies last), the 55-inch Sony 4K A80L OLED is $1498 ($400 below MSRP, $100 Off Amazon price) and the LG 4K C3 OLED TV is $1397 ($400 below MSRP, $100 Off Amazon Price). Shipping is included for Prime members. Other sizes are also available, up to 83 inches.

Both sets are brand new OLED models, introduced in 2023. Both include full streaming and smart TV functions. LG’s smart TV is based on its WebOS platform and Sony’s is based on the Google TV platform. Both sets provide access to all of the top streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Max, Apple TV+ and many many more. Subscriptions fees apply.
Both sets feature LG Display’s latest WRGB OLED panel with OLED’s signature inky black levels, rich color saturation, excellent shadow detail and top-notch contrast. Both make a great choice for watching movies, sports, TV series or playing games. On the LG TV, video processing is done via LG’s Alpha 9, Gen 6 processor. The Sony uses their own Cognitive XR video processor. Each does an excellent job processing standard def, high def and Ultra High Def content. In terms of detail processing and video upconversion, I’d give a slight edge to the Sony, but I personally could live happily with either TV. Both sets include support for both Dolby Atmos immersive sound and Dolby Vision dynamic HDR.
