Revolutionary New Receiver Simultaneously Delivers Three Discrete XM Satellite Radio Channels for Independent Access From Any Room in the House
Lexington, KY– ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, announced today that the company has begun shipping its revolutionary XM-R3 Triple Satellite Audio Receiver. The ELAN XM-R3 marks the company’s first major step into the realm of satellite radio. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

Featuring plug-and-play compatibility with ELAN’s home systems, the XM-R3 Receiver is revolutionary in that it delivers, simultaneously, three discrete XM Satellite Radio channels that can be accessed independently from any room in the house. This provides ELAN customers with easy access to XM’s more than 150 digital channels of award-winning programming from the company’s VIA! Touch Panels and allows distribution throughout the home.
Full, two-way RS-232 serial communications between the XM-R3 and ELAN VIA! Touch Panels provide the user with on-screen details about what they’re listening to, including channel name and number, artist name, and song title. Each full-color VIA! Touch Panel can be customized for instant, one-button access to the user’s favorite music, whether it is classical, jazz, country, rock, or another category. For those clients who are using ELAN Keypads in their system, intuitive basic button control is also possible, using ELAN’s custom keycaps.
The XM-R3 can be controlled by either IR or RS-232 serial communications, making it compatible with virtually any system on the market today, in addition to ELAN systems. The product has also been designed with Dealer setup in mind. Both the IR and RS-232 serial drivers have been be embedded in the latest version of ELAN’s award-winning VIA!TOOLS setup software so that installers can simply point and click on the appropriate file for control of the XM-R3, saving time and money on jobsite.
As an added bonus, the XM-R3’s antenna can be located up to 300′ away from head end using standard RG-6 coaxial cable and add-on ELAN antenna amplifier kits. This exclusive feature is not provided by any other Custom Installation product manufacturer. Other features include multi-output display, multi-output presets, parental control locks, and channel skip control.
The XM-R3 carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,550.00 and includes a handheld remote control, rack mount ears, and an XM-approved antenna with a 20-foot run. Antenna kits for longer distances may also be purchased separately from ELAN.
