COOPER CITY, FL (7/18/07) — Wireworld has begun shipping the Equinox 52 (pronounced ‘five-squared’) interconnects and speaker cables, incorporating the same revolutionary DNA (Delineated Neutralizing Array) technology found in the company’s reference audio cables at a significantly lower price. This unique geometry and structural design provides a significant improvement in audio fidelity and superior isolation from noise and interference.
“Our philosophy has always been that the ideal cable is one that sounds most like a direct connection in double-blind listening tests” explains Wireworld president and chief engineer David Salz. “The audible coloration and dynamic compression of conventional cables is primarily caused by electromagnetic field effects. To minimize these problems, the spacing between the two polarities needs to be completely uniform, and carefully tuned. Our new DNA technology optimizes these critical parameters, providing a dramatic step forward in overall fidelity and performance compared to our previous designs, and those of our competitors.”
Wireworld’s DNA cable design utilizes a unique geometric structure that employs a set of flat, parallel-stacked conductors to optimize the electromagnetic coupling between the two polarities. In the Equinox interconnects, this parallel array is then precisely wound into a helix shape to maintain consistent spacing between the conductors over the cable’s length, effectively neutralizing the electromagnetic losses.
While the helical DNA design is ideal for interconnects, it is too bulky and stiff for practical use in the larger sizes required for speaker level connections. For the Equinox single and bi-wire speaker cables, Wireworld has adapted the stacked conductor arrangement for improved flexibility. The result is a series of twelve flat conductors stacked diagonally within a flat overall outer profile, a structure Wireworld calls Diagonal DNA. Each of the flat conductors is composed of a parallel group of six strands encased in high-density polyethylene. This arrangement provides for uniform conductivity across the entire spectrum, and minimizes all types of audible distortion for greater clarity and dynamics than previous speaker cable designs.
Wireworld’s Equinox 52 interconnects and speaker cables feature Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper conductors of 6-N (99.99997%) purity. The proprietary connectors have silver-clad Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) contacts. The MSRP for the interconnect cable is $199.95 for a 1-meter pair, and the MSRP for the speaker cable is $30.00 per foot.
