Velodyne Extends Its Leadership in Subwoofers with New Product Introductions at CES 2005

Morgan Hill, CA (January 31, 2005) — Extending its leadership position in providing award-winning subwoofer technology, Velodyne Acoustics, Inc. the world’s leading manufacturer of powered subwoofers for home-theater and consumer audio, introduced three new products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Among the new products is the Subwoofer Management System, which brings the power of Digital Drive room management software to any subwoofer.

“Velodyne has a strong heritage of providing high-quality, technologically-advanced subwoofers. These new products, as well as others that you’ll see introduced throughout 2005, build on that heritage and demonstrate our commitment to delivering the finest bass experience in home audio,” said Bruce Hall, president of Velodyne. “CES is just the starting point for what will be another exciting year of new and upgraded products for Velodyne.”

The new Velodyne products introduced at CES include:

• Subwoofer Management System (SMS-1) — The SMS-1 improves the performance of any subwoofer and offers all the features of the DSP-controlled, industry leading Digital Drive room correction software in a rack mountable case. For the first time in an outboard processor, the SMS-1, a one unit high configuration, can display room anomalies visually and provide all the tools needed to correct them, allowing a listener to optimize any sub’s and your system’s bass performance. The SMS-1 comes preprogrammed with six fully adjustable listening mode presets and can be adjusted with a single touch of a button on the remote control. The SMS-1 will be available in the summer of 2005.
• Digital Drive Software Version 2.0 — DD Software Version 2.0 represents a major upgrade to the Digital Drive subwoofer series. All Digital Drive subwoofers will be able to take advantage of the new features in Version 2.0 regardless of the current version they are running and will be standard on all new Digital Drive subwoofers and the SMS-1. There are more than a dozen new features of Version 2.0 including automated room EQ, individualized EQ curves per preset, selectable default preset, easier navigation and other features. Best of all, DD Version 2.0 will be offered free of charge to all current Digital Drive customers. DD Version 2.0 will be available by the end of the first quarter, 2005.
• Digital Drive Special Order Colors — The Digital Drive series, in addition to the standard piano black gloss, medium cherry or light maple finishes, will now be available in white, canary yellow, nautical blue, scarlet red, gunmetal gray or silver. In addition, customers will have a choice of either black or silver grille cloth. Delivery will be 120 days ARO. Velodyne is taking orders for DD special colors immediately.
