Trial to Test Use of Digital Content from CBS to Enhance TV Viewing

tvCompass Inc., an industry leader in software and services for mobile internet devices and smart home solutions, today announced a trial to test and research the promotion of enhanced TV and programming promotion through WiFi connected mobile internet devices (MID) in the home. The trial will utilize tvCompass’s TV 2.0 Platform that uses fast-growing home WiFi networks to deliver contextual content to today’s multi-tasking TV viewers in a rich second-screen environment. The TV 2.0 Platform will integrate selected digital content from CBS for presentation to TV viewers.

Consumers will utilize a tv.com branded Wifi MID powered by tvCompass as a second screen companion to the TV. The WiFi MID serves as a personal Internet screen to deliver content to enhance CBS TV programming. Viewers can engage in a variety of personal experiences without disrupting the TV screen.

“Our solution offers a way for multi-taskers in the living room to stay current with news and information, interact with friends via messaging, discover new content and services, or share favorite shows with friends and family. CBS has provided their vision to help bring together the two screens, TV and Internet, into a single meaningful experience for TV viewers,” said Edward Zylka CEO of tvCompass.

“We are pleased to be working with tvCompass on this next-generation remote control,” said George Schweitzer, President of CBS Marketing. “We look forward to learning more about the new ways consumers can explore and access their favorite television programming.”

As part of the trial, tvCompass plans on introducing its patented and proprietary system for synchronizing wireless second screen devices in the living room with TV. This advanced system is designed to link the two screens and provide synchronized and augmented content for game shows, trailers and promotions, sports events, reality TV and ecommerce.
