Sony Launches INZONE H9 II Wireless Gaming Headset and E9 In-Ear Monitors for Gamers

Sony expands its INZONE lineup with the H9 II Wireless Gaming Headset and E9 IEMs, featuring FNATIC tuning, 360 Spatial Sound, and pro-level gaming audio.

Sony INZONE H9 II Wireless Gaming Headset and E9 Wired IEM

Sony has been busy flooding the market with new cans—LinkBuds Open and Fit, the WH-1000XM6, and even the Pulse Elite—and now they’ve decided gamers need some fresh toys too. Enter the INZONE H9 II Wireless Gaming Headset and the E9 IEMs, because apparently immersive sound and low latency weren’t already keeping you glued to your chair for 12 straight hours.

Successor to the original H9, the Sony H9 II doesn’t just slap on a new badge—it actually brings some meaningful upgrades, thanks in part to Sony’s team-up with FNATIC. Translation: these cans aren’t just for casual Call of Duty nights, they’re tuned for the people who actually think spawn timing is a lifestyle choice.

The headline change is the new 30mm dynamic driver, borrowed straight from Sony’s WH-1000XM6 wireless headphones. That means better performance across the frequency range and bass that hits harder than your average energy drink.

Gamers also get a new FPS (First Person Shooter) Mode, plus support for both the INZONE Hub and Sony Sound Connect, because apparently default settings are for quitters.

Battery life anxiety? Forget it. The H9 II gives you up to a full hour of use on just a 5-minute charge—perfect for when you’re already late for your squad and “sleep” is just a rumor.

And since lugging around a headset shouldn’t feel like carrying a brick, the H9 II trims down to 260 grams without the detachable mic, or 273 grams with it. That mic isn’t just there for show either—it delivers 50dB of gain and a 14,000 Hz frequency range, which is literally double what the original H9 offered. Trash talk never sounded so crisp.

Sony INZONE E9 In-Ear Monitors for Gaming: Specs, Features, and Performance

sony-inzone-e9-white

Alongside the full-size H9 II headset, Sony is also rolling out something new for gamers who prefer to keep things light: the INZONE E9 In-Ear Monitors. Unlike the headset, the E9 doesn’t have a direct predecessor, but like the H9 II it’s been tuned in collaboration with FNATIC—so yes, these little guys are built with competitive play in mind, not just casual background Spotify.

The E9 features a high-stability ear hook design to keep them locked in place during long sessions, plus a sealed structure for passive noise isolation—because your teammates are loud enough without hearing the rest of your house. Sony also bakes in 360 Spatial Sound and EQ adjustments specifically tailored to highlight footsteps and gunshots in FPS titles. If someone’s sneaking up on you, it won’t be the earbuds’ fault.

Connectivity is flexible with both USB-C and 3.5mm options, and the included 1.8-meter cable means you won’t be tethered like a dog on a short leash. PC gamers get additional tuning control via the INZONE Hub, thanks to an included USB audio box.

At under 20 grams, the E9 is featherlight, but Sony still throws in extras: hybrid earpieces (two types), noise-isolation tips, a carrying case, and the usual paperwork. Available in black or white, the INZONE E9 is essentially Sony’s way of saying: “You wanted gaming IEMs? Fine, here’s a set—now stop borrowing your AirPods for Valorant.”

The Bottom Line

Sony’s latest gaming audio drop shows they’re serious about competing beyond casual plug-and-play gear. The INZONE H9 II Wireless Gaming Headset builds on the original H9 with a lighter frame, detachable mic, faster charging, and the same 30mm dynamic driver found in the WH-1000XM6. Add in FNATIC’s tuning, FPS Mode, and access to Sony’s INZONE Hub, and you’re looking at a headset designed to give competitive gamers both immersion and a tactical edge. Downsides? It’s not exactly cheap, and even with the weight savings, some players still prefer the less bulky in-ear route.

That’s where the INZONE E9 IEMs come in. Sony’s first stab at gaming-focused IEMs offers passive noise isolation, 360 Spatial Sound, and an EQ tuned for FPS awareness. At under 20 grams with both USB-C and 3.5mm connectivity, they’re lightweight and versatile, though without a predecessor in Sony’s lineup, performance is still an open question. Priced in line with competitors like the Campfire Audio Axion 1 ($249) and Meze Audio Alba ($159), the E9 will need to prove it can hang with established audiophile brands while delivering the latency and positional accuracy gamers demand.

In short: the H9 II looks like a safe upgrade for Sony loyalists, while the E9 is more of a wild card—one that could pay off if Sony nailed the tuning. Either way, the competition just got interesting.
