Runco International Lends Support to Definitive Audios 30th Anniversary Home Theater Event

BELLEVUE, WA — June 23, 2005 — Runco International is bringing the future of home theater video to Bellevue, Washington at the Definitive Audio 30th Anniversary Home Theater Event. The company will have on display the latest additions to its world-renowned line of front projectors, plasma monitors, and now LCD Flat Panel Displays. New products will be demonstrated and attendees will be able to experience the ultimate in video display technology firsthand. The big buzz among home theater enthusiasts has been the introduction of Runco’s CineWide with AutoScope, an exclusive feature that lets the company’s projectors show movies in the CinemaScope 2.35:1 aspect ratio with never-before-seen brightness and clarity. This new technology and a range of Runco products will be live at the Definitive Audio Event, which is scheduled for June 22 and 23 at the company’s Bellevue showroom.

“2005 is a landmark year for Runco engineering. Our newest displays give custom home theater designers the ability to create a home cinema experience with true silver screen authenticity,” said Bob Hana, president of Runco International. “At the Definitive Home Theater Event, Runco can put its breakthrough technologies in front of Definitive’s customer base, and give them a firsthand look at the quality that can be achieved with our displays. At Runco, we take pride in our goal of being each dealer’s strongest business partner, and it’s exciting for us when we get to unveil the next wave of products they’ll be sharing with their clients.`

Runco International will host on-going demonstrations on a number of its product families. CineWide with AutoScope will be shown as part of the Video Xtreme VX-40d and VX-60d Projection Systems, which both include the all-digital DHD Controller & Processor. Also present are the new VX-1000d and VX-5000d projectors from the Reflection Series, which generate bright, high-definition pictures using single-chip DLP light engines. Runco has developed a sophisticated color balancing system and proprietary Reflective Volume Regulation, which perfectly balance black and white levels. These engineering achievements are combined with lens choices featuring world-class optics and lens shift versatility.

One of Runco’s most exciting new product families, the Crystal Series LCD Flat Panel Displays, will be on display. The collection features three models, with screen sizes of 26, 32, and 40 inches. Each flat panel display’s elegant black exterior makes it a sophisticated complement to any theater’s decor, while discrete IR and RS-232 control allow total compatibility with high-end automation systems. Runco also worked with the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) to specially develop “day” and “night” calibration presets that ensure an impressive picture in varied levels of ambient light. In addition, all three monitors include a high-quality stereo speaker system–a Runco-first.

As a statement of Runco’s pioneering approach to versatility in home entertainment, the company’s award-winning plasma monitors will also be showcased–featuring the CW-43MC, CW-50MC and the PL-43DHD. Runco’s engineering enhancements like Active Grayscale Rendering provides for smoother transitions from dark to light, resulting in richly detailed textures even in shadowy scenes. Contrast is also boosted in high ambient light conditions by the use of a newly developed full screen filter that attenuates light reflections.

Definitive Audio is celebrating their 30th Anniversary with this special Home Theater Event, to be held in their Bellevue Showroom. For two nights customers can see and hear the very latest in high-end audio, video and home theater in 9 specially outfitted demonstration rooms. “The Definitive Audio Home Theater Event is going to build on the success of our past client appreciation events, which have easily been among the largest specialty audio/video events in the Seattle area,” said Mark Ormiston, president of Definitive Audio. “Hundreds of customers come to each of our special events, and we’re bringing back all of our most popular elements. We designed the Home Theater Event as a way for manufacturers to show their latest innovations to our client-base, and this year’s event, which highlights 30 years of Definitive Audio’s success, is going to be one of our strongest events yet.”
