Brightly Patterned, Graffiti-Style Sets Display Dazzling High-Tech Product Interpretations from Youthful, Urban-Oriented Artists and Designers

CES ’07, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2007 — Proton Electronic Industrial Co., a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-quality, superbly engineered digital TVs, LCD TVs and HDTV products, showcases a series of unique artist-enhanced LCD TV’s from its acclaimed INTERMIX Project at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show, beginning here today.

Originally exhibited in Taipei, Taiwan, the INTERMIX Project expresses the style and vision of renowned artists and graphic designers from around the world. Through a collaborative development process hosted by Proton, ten artists and design groups were invited to express their ideas and styles using Proton 32-inch LCD televisions.

The completed artworks represent fresh, new interpretations of high-tech lifestyle products, and were all sold through auction. Earnings from the auction were donated to the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, and Christy’s Room Foundation. The Taiwan Fund supports financially challenged families, many of whom have suffered losses from natural disasters and illnesses, with special emphasis on helping children from these families receive a proper education. Christy’s Room Foundation focuses on supporting education in the fields of art and design, including providing scholarships to talented young artists experiencing financial difficulties.

The INTERMIX LCD TVs provided a canvas for experiments in the genre of graffiti art as expressions of an urban street culture, especially among youthful artists and designers eager to apply their powers of self-expression and creative freedom. The INTERMIX artworks and the financial support they made possible also embody Proton’s belief in the responsibility of every organization, as well as families and individuals, to return something to the societies that support them. The INTERMIX Project, therefore, not only promotes the development of a lively urban culture, but also helps fulfill Proton’s responsibility to help create a better tomorrow.

Selected works from the INTERMIX Project can be seen with Proton’s other outstanding LCD TVs in Booth 21926, South Hall 1, Las Vegas Convention Center, during the show.
