Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. Pro Audio and Video Division today announced its collaboration with DJ Times Magazine to find “America’s Best DJ” through sponsored DJ events and online voting. The top 40 DJs will have a chance to perform in the Summer Tour, a series of 40 Pioneer and DJ Times sponsored venues held around the United States, to prove he or she is the top jock of 2007 and America’s Best DJ. The search process will kick-off in March at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida and will conclude when the winner is announced this August in Ibiza, Spain.
“There’s a lot of undiscovered DJ talent across the country and we’re hoping to find it with this event,” said Neil Altneu, vice president of sales and marketing for Pioneer’s Pro Audio and Video Division. “DJs have become an integral part of the music culture and we’re making it possible for them to show off their talents through our DJ products.”
As the title sponsor for “America’s Best DJ”, Pioneer’s Pro Audio and Video Division will have high visibility at many of the events including an exhibit of its top-notch DJ equipment. Participating DJs can perform using any of Pioneer’s DVJ-, CDJ- and DJM- products used at the venues.
In addition to participating at club events across the country, competing DJs will have a voting page online through americasbestdj.com where fans can cast their votes. Online voters also have the chance to win a drawing for a trip to the Spanish party island of Ibiza, where the winner of “America’s Best DJ” search will join them.
The Pioneer sponsored search for America’s Best DJ is also supported by other companies including SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Beatport.com. Each sponsor will provide additional exposure to the DJs participating in the competition.
