It’s not uncommon to find a myriad of factory supplied custom finish options for everything from automobiles to furniture, but the audio/video industry has yet to really capitalize upon this idea. That’s about to change. MartinLogan, the Loudspeaker Technology Company, has launched ‘The MartinLogan Custom Shop’.

Utilizing a web-based application accessible via www.martinlogan.com, consumers work with a 3D model and a palette of finish options to visualize their custom speaker. The current selection of finishes displayed on the MartinLogan Custom shop represents approximately 400,000 possible combinations available for MartinLogan’s flagship Summit loudspeaker ($10,995/pair US retail base price). Consumers can customize everything from the cabinet finish to the color of screws on the back panel.

“MartinLogan has always strived to deliver loudspeakers that not only sound good, but also provide a stylish alternative to traditional wooden box speakers. The Custom Shop is the next evolutionary step in this philosophy. By opening wide the door on custom finish options high-end speakers begin to make sense in style-conscious home environments where previously they would never have been considered. MartinLogan speakers are more than just a great-sounding audiophile product–they’re a luxury item, and in today’s market this means taking that extra step to make each consumer happy. MartinLogan’s goal is to provide our consumers with total satisfaction on every level,” says Devin Zell, MartinLogan Assistant Marketing Manager.

If a consumer is interested in products or finishes beyond those displayed on The Custom Shop, MartinLogan will work with each consumer to build a custom speaker to match their desires. “Recently, a customer in the Ukraine requested a pair of white leather and chrome Summit speakers to match the all-white interior of his home. In this instance the customer sent MartinLogan a specific type of white leather from a company that had previously provided white leather for his custom furniture. The resulting speakers were absolutely beautiful,” says Mr. Zell.
