ITC Introduces New Tool-Less Mini Coax Connectors

ITC (Instant Tool-less Connector), a division of The Quest Group (parent company of AudioQuest), announces it has added mini coax connectors to its tool-less line of products. ITC’s patented tool-less connector system provides a quick and cost-effective alternative to crimping or compression systems, while providing reliable connectivity with twist termination and a wider center pin entry.

Current crimp and compression termination systems require multiple tools and dies to make a connection. ITC’s connectors, however, do not require a tool for termination, a significant benefit for residential and commercial A/V system installers. The ITC tool-less system lowers costs by reducing termination time, complexity, and failure rate.

“We are pleased to add the new mini coax connectors to our extensive tool-less line,” said William Low, CEO of The Quest Group. “For installers, the tool-less system simplifies the connection process in addition to reducing termination time.”

Unlike multipiece compression connectors designed for mini coax cable, which can lock in a misaligned manner when crimped, ITC’s connectors simply twist together, resulting in a perfect connection every time. ITC’s connectors offer a minimum resistance, easy access center pin entry of the center conductor, whether solid or stranded.

“For installers, terminating mini coax cable has always posed the problem of actually seeing the center conductor make contact,” added Low. “There have been several solutions to this problem, from utilizing a window visible before compression, to physically putting the center pin pieces directly onto the center conductor. However, these methods are both time-consuming and require keeping track of several small pieces. ITC’s mini coax connectors offer installers a timesaving alternative by providing quick and easy center pin entry and simple twist termination. This results in higher reliability, reducing return trips to a job to fix bad connections, and increasing overall customer satisfaction.”

ITC’s mini coax connectors are the first to use the conductors’ own braid for grip/pull, eliminating the need to rely on thin wire jackets. To ensure long-term, reliable connections, the connectors feature a captive center pin that securely grips onto the center conductor using ITC’s patent pending Grip-Lock system for maximum contact and conductivity. The connectors are also unique in their ability to be reused easily.

The new mini coax tool-less connectors will be available in July 2008, for the termination of standard 26-AWG mini coax cables in both solid and stranded conductors and 25-AWG mini coax cables designed to work with 26-AWG connectors. The connectors are priced from $1.65 each. Authorized distributor listings can be found at www.itcplug.com.
