First Consumer Disc Authoring Software to Support High-Definition Video Discs
InterVideo, Inc. (Nasdaq:IVII) and its partner Ulead Systems, Inc. (TSE:2487), industry leaders in video, image and DVD software, today tannounced the latest version of Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5. New features that have been added to the company’s consumer DVD authoring package include easy disc authoring, an expanded range of creative options and future-ready support for both the HD DVD and Blu-ray disc formats.
With support for the new high-definition formats, users will enjoy the amazingly sharp images that high-definition video provides while making a giant leap in storage capacity.

Capture/Edit
Users can capture video from any source, including DV or HDV camcorders, DVB-T digital broadcasts, or VCRs. Captured videos can then be trimmed and enhanced by adding titles, and select background music with DVD MovieFactory’s Video Editing Toolbox.
DVD MovieFactory’s Multi-trim editor now features responsive AccuCut scrubbing controls that allow users to zoom in to the frame-level to make precise cuts for removing unwanted footage. For users who want to capture their favorite TV shows and burn them to disc, DVD MovieFactory now includes Ad-Zapper, a feature that scans video and automatically detects commercials. Users can then easily remove the ads, for an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Authoring
When laying ou menus for HD or standard DVDs, users now have a whole new arsenal of creative tools. SmartScene menus feature a large preview window which changes content when the viewer rolls over a text item. Motion filters bring still-image backgrounds to life. Text and objects can be freely rotated, resized and repositioned, to make pleasing menu compositions.
Unique to consumer authoring software, DVD MovieFactory now offers Menu Transitions. These enable pleasing visual transitions between menus and titles. Commonly seen in commercial DVDs, menu transitions have previously only been possible with professional authoring packages.
Slideshows
Digital cameras and camera phones continue to be hot sellers, and one of the best ways to share photos is with a digital slideshow on disc. DVD MovieFactory 5 lets users arrange and enhance their photos, apply smooth transitions and add a soundtrack before burning to CD or DVD.
Data/Audio Storage
