Ikivo Introduces New SVG Software Solution for Java Applications

The North America Motorola iDEN i870 now supports JSR226

Stockholm, Sweden — 6th December 2005 — Ikivo AB, the leading provider of SVG software solutions for mobile devices announced today that their SVG for Java technology is being used in a North America based mobile device supporting JSR226.

JSR 226 uses Mobile SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) to bring scalability to J2ME applications enabling on time development and removing the need for re-authoring content or optimizing for screen size.

Ikivo’s SVG for Java is a new feature to the Ikivo Multimedia SVG Player product including support for the JSR226 specification.

The JSR226 support in the North America Motorola iDEN i870 handset enables the several million Java application developers to build rich MultiMedia applications utilizing Mobile SVG and use the many commercially available content design and development tools, such as the Ikivo’s Animator, currently on the market.

The JSR226 support from Ikivo extends the J2ME environment and enables Handset Manufacturers, Mobile Operators, and Application developers to readily create animated, interactive Mobile MultiMedia services like interactive maps, financial services, games, and other graphics rich applications.

“Mobile SVG and Java are the open-standard and royalty-free choices selected and used in hundreds of millions of phones by the Mobile Industry today” says Magnus Zetterberg, VP Sales & Marketing at Ikivo. “The release of the i870 phone from Motorola with support for JSR226 is a key milestone in providing an environment were mobile multimedia services can be developed and deployed rapidly to a low cost.”
