Gefen today announced the addition of two high definition audio/video switchers and an upgraded splitter to its line-up of home theater solutions. New 2×2 and 6×2 Switchers provide greater integration options for high definition systems, and a 1:2 HDMI Splitter conforms to the latest HDMI standard 1.1 specifications.
Gefen’s 2×2 HDMI Switcher is a small metallic unit equipped with two HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs and one RS-232. The inputs support two high definition video sources, such as satellite systems and HD DVD players, each accessible by remote control. Two outputs accommodate the connection of two high definition displays or one display and one audio/video receiver. When two displays are connected, both show the same source content. RS-232 is provided for serial control of automation systems or for bringing a computer into the mix.
Gefen’s 6×2 HDMI Switcher connects up to six sources to one or two two displays at the same time. High definition video and multichannel digital audio is accessed immediately when the unit “switches” to it.
An upgraded 1:2 HDMI Splitter from Gefen splits high definition audio/video and distributes it to two outputs, driving two displays or a display and an audio/video receiver at the same time.
Each is equipped with HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) connectors that maintain high definition resolutions up to 1080p plus multichannel digital audio. Each is HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection) compliant.
