First Network ScanSnap Scanner Includes New Features That Make Document Imaging and Image File Sharing Easier Than Ever

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. today announced a new addition to its award-winning line of ScanSnap scanning solutions with the introduction of the Fujitsu ScanSnap Network fi-6010N iScanner. The new Network Scanner seamlessly integrates within a company’s existing network infrastructure, allowing users to easily scan and share information on the network to streamline business operations, reduce operating costs, and enhance work processes.

Network scanners help organizations by decreasing the complex nature of scanning without compromising access to important document scanning functionality. The Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-6010N iScanner includes time saving features such as Scan to E-mail, Scan to Folder, Scan to Network Fax, Scan to FTP and Scan to Network Printer. Utilizing its “Job Button” feature, you can pre-program frequently used functions into the scanner, including setting a destination for scanned images. Additionally, with the large 8.4″ XGA touch screen, users can easily view, zoom, pan and rotate scanned images with a full US 101 keyboard at their disposal for data input.

The new ScanSnap iScanner is also equipped with Open Source integration capabilities, incorporating free Open Source authentication services from OpenLDAP™. In addition, the Network Scanner now fully integrates with a broader list of industry leading server applications, including Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007, providing even more user flexibility and reduction in operating expenses.

“In the past few years, network scanning has been embraced and deployed by businesses across a broad range of vertical markets,” said Scott Francis, senior director of product marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “The healthcare, finance, accounting, legal and transportation industries in particular have adopted the technology based on the simple user experience. From the ScanSnap iScanner’s easy deployment to its enhanced security and encryption features to the customizable job functions, it’s never been easier for businesses to quickly scan and share documents across the entire organization.”

The Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-6010N iScanner also offers developers an optional Software Developer Kit (SDK), providing third-party connectivity to customize the Network Scanner to the exact business need. Developers can create a customized look and feel for screen displays, or enable additional functionality to connect to Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repositories, Line of Business (LOB) applications or other third party systems.

More Innovative Features of the Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-6010N iScanner
With the ScanSnap fi-6010N iScanner Central Admin Server, network administrators can control their entire fleet of network iScanners on a LAN or WAN via one administration console. It’s easy to push software updates to remote scanners to keep devices current, and administrators can track device status and consumable counts from anywhere to maintain optimal performance. The network scanner also offers highly secure transmission protocols to validate authentication and manage devices, reducing risks associated with unmanaged communication within organizations. If an organization has environmental sustainability targets, the ScanSnap fi-6010N iScanner has been designed to meet Energy Star efficiency standards and has been built to comply with the RoHS standard, reducing hazardous electronic parts and chemicals. Additional features include:

  • Scanning speeds of 25ppm in both grayscale black & white and color, and in duplex mode scans at 50ipm
  • Intelligent scanning, including Automatic adjusting for rotation, blank page deletion, color detection, deskew, and page size detection
  • Ultrasonic double-feed detection
  • Long document scanning support (up to 34 inches)
  • Hard or embossed card scanning through the 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF)
