The retro vibes are strong with this one. ELAC has announced a partnership with the Brooklyn-based fashion label ADSUM. The first result of this partnership is the creation of a special edition version of the ELAC Debut ConneX powered bookshelf speakers.

This collaboration combines the Debut ConneX with a blend of minimalist design while retaining its established audio performance features. These bookshelf speakers offer a soundbar’s straightforward functionality and convenience while delivering the superior sound quality and visual appeal expected from top-tier separate powered speakers.

The collaboration between Adsum and ELAC goes beyond cosmetic changes; it represents a comprehensive redesign. Adsum contributed an exclusive tubular metal stand and magnetic detachable grilles. The design overhaul also features a modernized cabinet with squared-off edges, freshly painted cabinets, and a new remote control, complemented by custom-colored cables to complete the distinctive look. 

The Debut ConneX speakers are designed to be the perfect audio companion for the space-conscious city dweller. Its abundant inputs make it adaptable for everything from cinematic viewing and video gaming to DJing and hosting last-minute gatherings. The speakers are compact enough to blend into any space, yet powerful enough to fill an apartment with neighbor-rousing sound – the ideal speaker set for the city lifestyle.

ELAC Debut ConneX Overview

The ELAC Debut ConneX system consists of one powered speaker and one passive speaker that are linked together. You can select either speaker for use as the left or right channel. 

The powered (primary) speaker houses the amplifiers for both speakers. The primary speaker includes all the physical source connections as well as a Bluetooth antenna. The audio signals needed for the passive (secondary) speaker are transferred from the primary speaker via traditional speaker terminals and wire.

HDMI-ARC/CEC Support: HDMI-ARC allows you to listen to TV sound by providing access to the HDMI-CEC feature on your TV. This enables you to use your TV’s remote to control the volume of the Debut ConneX speakers. Elac also provides a dedicated remote control for the Debut ConneX if you prefer. 

Vinyl Support: The Debut ConneX speakers have a built-in switchable MM phono preamp. You can connect both traditional turntables and turntables with their own built-in phono preamp. 

USB Input: This allows connection to a PC for listening to music files (No drivers required). When connected to a PC or Mac you can use them to control speaker volume. Hi-res audio up to 24-bit/96kHz is supported.

Bluetooth: The Bluetooth receiver supports aptX allowing for “CD-quality” audio streaming from compatible smartphones, tablets, and computers. Using Bluetooth, you can stream from compatible platforms like Qobuz, TIDAL, Spotify, and Amazon Music HD.

XBass: ConneX includes ELAC’s XBass Enhancer. This provides additional bass extension and output (can be turned off). 

Subwoofer Output: In addition to XBass, a subwoofer output is included for connection to an external powered subwoofer if preferred.

    This seems like a smartly designed product having the right combination of features and connectivity options. Add a Wiim Mini and you’ve got a nice-looking small system.

    I have a genuine question: Can one easily remove the two logos from the speaker grilles?
