Diskeeper Corporation, Makers of Number One Automatic Defragmenter, Turns 27 Years Young

Diskeeper Corporation, makers of the leading defragmenter, Diskeeper, today announced that the company has just passed an amazing 27 year mark. The company’s flagship product is the renowned Diskeeper automatic defragmenter. Originally developed for the VAX/VMS platform, Diskeeper caught the number one position right out of the gate — and has held fast over every competitor in both the original VMS and subsequent Microsoft Windows corporate markets ever since.

“Our first and foremost concern has always been the performance of our customers’ computer systems,” said Michael Materie, Director of Product Management, at Diskeeper Corporation. “We continually listen to feedback from IT directors and system managers, and gear our development accordingly. The result is innovative defragmentation technology that leads the industry and provides customers the optimal solution to their storage performance demands.”

A prime example: a few years back, system administrators began complaining that due to escalating 24×7 server operation, time windows in which to run scheduled defragmentation were becoming scarce, and performance was suffering accordingly. Diskeeper Corporation listened, and released Diskeeper with breakthrough InvisiTasking technology; for the first time, a defragmenter runs completely automatically, in the background, requiring no scheduling at all. Because InvisiTasking utilizes otherwise-idle system resources, there is never a negative performance hit from defragmentation, and thousands of sites have reported the incredible benefit of constantly maximized performance and reliability.

Diskeeper “firsts” also include I-FAAST (Intelligent File Access Acceleration Sequencing Technology). This feature accelerates file access to meet the heavy workloads of file-intensive applications. Using a specially formulated technology, I-FAAST closely monitors file usage and re-sequences the most commonly accessed files for the fastest possible access. File access and creation is boosted to speeds beyond the capabilities of your system when it was new, up to 80% faster.

Frag Shield, another Diskeeper-only feature, dynamically prevents fragmentation of critical system files, maintaining system stability and reliability. It helps administrators configure their MFTs and paging files as recommended by Microsoft. Following these guidelines helps keep these critical system files working their best; systems are not slowed down from fragmented MFT’s or paging files.

Diskeeper EnterpriseServer edition also contains the remarkable Terabyte Volume Engine (TVE). TVE is the only defrag technology with the necessary horsepower to eliminate the rapid fragmentation build-up that occurs in high-traffic volumes that handles millions of files. The greater the number of files and fragments on a volume, the more dramatic TVE’s benefits will be. TVE makes real-time enterprise server defragmentation a fact.
