Cypresss Programmable Radio-on-a-Chip PRoC Wins EDN Chinas 2005 Innovation of the Year Award

New Product Combines Cypress’s WirelessUSB™ and PSoC Technologies

BEIJING – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) today announced that its Programmable Radio-on-a-Chip™ (PRoC™) product has been honored with the “Innovation of the Year Award” for 2005 by EDN China, one of the leading global electronics magazines in China. PRoC combines Cypress’s WirelessUSB™ 2.4-GHz radio-on-a-chip with the company’s PSoC (Programmable System-on-Chip™) mixed-signal array, all in a single, integrated product.

The Annual Innovation Award was established by EDN Magazine fourteen years ago. This award has become one of the most prestigious awards in the American semiconductor industry. EDN China selected PRoC from a field of products in the Digital IC & Programmable Device category. Winners were selected by a public vote of experts and readers on the publication’s website (http://www.ednchina.com).

“This is the first time EDN China has given this award to meet the demand for information and analysis of China’s fast growing semiconductor industry. In an effort to guarantee the fairness of this award, experts as well as readers are involved to vote for their favorite products in a fair, open, transparent and professional manner,” said William Zhang, Publishing Director of EDN China.

“We are pleased and honored to win this award, especially as this is the first in China,” said Paul Novell, Cypress’s managing director of Asia Operations and Sales. “Cypress has won EDN’s Innovation Award in the U.S. multiple times, including wins for both WirelessUSB and PSoC. Winning EDN China’s award shows that the combination of these technologies in our innovative PRoC solution is well accepted by Chinese IC engineers and the China market. We hope to be honored with this prestigious award again in the future.”

Cypress’s commitment in China has spanned more than a decade, and it has established direct sales offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, as well as a regional business operation center in Hong Kong. In September 2005, Cypress’s first design center in China was established in Shanghai for the purpose of product design with a focus on local markets.
